Drug assignment

Research Paper Instructions

Assignment

You will be assigned a Vancomycin drug and its natural source is Amycolatopsis orientalis to research for this paper.

To complete this research paper, you must:

  • Include the natural source of the drug using the common name first, then the binomial nomenclature as reviewed in class: (Tyrannosaurus Rex the first time you mention it in the paper, then T. Rex for all subsequent references).

  • Discuss how the medicinal properties of the natural source were discovered (including whichever person, university, and/or manufacturer researched and developed the drug). Was the natural source used as a treatment in the unprocessed state in history?

  • Explain how the drug is use in the present day. What does it treat? Where is the drug dispensed? Are there generics or only brand name available?

  • Share other interesting information about the drug that you learned through your research.

Refer to OWL at Purdue for APA paper formatting and citation information. You paper does not need to include an abstract, methods, materials, etc. The paper must include a properly formatted title page, introduction, body paragraphs, conclusion, and references page with a minimum of three references. In addition to the reference page, these materials should be referenced using in text citations within your paper.

The final paper will be double spaced using a professional 11pt or 12pt font. The body of the paper must be a minimum of 500 words, or approximately two pages when double spaced. Word count does not include title or references page.

This is worth 10% of your final grade. Please review the checklist in this document and rubric on MyLearning to ensure you have met all parameters. Follow the directions on MyLearning to submit your final paper.

The research paper is due on December 8 11:59 PM.

There will be no extensions.
