Element 011 Title: Consultants Report with Reflective Element (80% of Overall Module Mark)

Task: As a consultant, report to Elon Musk on the main problem(s) facing Tesla, and suggest realistic and relevant solution(s) to this/these based on at least two of the Tesla-focused materials provided on Canvas with a Reflective Element.

Your summative assessment for the module is a consultants report to Elon Musk on what you think is/are the main problem(s) facing Tesla, and to suggest realistic and relevant solutions to these.  You are  again, free to choose whatever issue or issues you think are the main problems affecting Tesla, and to design your own realistic and relevant solutions to the issue(s) you have identified. Your analysis must be based on at least two of the Tesla-related materials discussed in class / posted on Canvas, and must be supported by good quality research evidence.

  • This is the material - Michaels, D. 2018. ‘Advice for Tesla: Manage Safety and Production Will Fall Into Line’. Financial Times, 03 May 2018.

  • Wong, J. C. 2018. 'Tesla Workers Say they Pay the Price for Elon Musk's Big Promises', Guardian, 14th June 2018.

To fully answer the question, you're advised to consider:

  • What harm is being caused to Tesla by this problem/these problems?

  • Which research evidence, theories, or concepts from the module help you understand the roots of the problem(s)?

  • Which research evidence, theories, or concepts from the module support your solution(s)?

SELF REFLECTION

The self-reflection section must be based on the feedback you received from your mid-term assessment piece. Ideally this would be included as an appendix to your written reports, and show that you have read the feedback given to identify the main areas which require improvement in relation to the marking criteria.  Having identified these, you must then provide a short summary of how you have improved your work and what your key learning objective will be for the next piece of work you submit.

You might like to structure your self-reflection in the following way:

Take 2 or 3 points for improvement from the previous mid-term assessment feedback (e.g. structure, referencing, criticality, use of examples), work on them while completing the final assignment for this module and complete the table, indicating:

  • What points you have worked on

  • Your evaluation of the progress made of the points identified

  • Your future learning objective which you can include in future assignments
