Introduction

Negotiation is one of the key aspects of the project as it ensures the availability of the expectations and resources regarding the project at the same level to contribute towards the project's success ( Creasy, Fan, & Johnson , 2017). The essay will inform about two core project management traits during the negotiation process and their significance through example. The essay will also spotlight the impact of triple constraints on the project manager during the negotiation process. Finally, the study will inform about the benefits and challenges of keeping stakeholders involved regarding the project progress.

Two Core Project management traits for negotiation

Six core project management traits carry high significance for the project managers. Two co re traits during the negotiation process involve communication mastery and the ability to organize and delegate . According to Ika et al. (2020), effective communication ensures that the project manager can share key information with the negotiating parties quickly and easily to convince them on a point. It is quite effective in clarifying the associated benefits and challenges to the other party for pushing them to make the right decision (Creasy, Fan, & Johnson, 2017). The capability to organize and delegate provides key support to the project manager to consider and offer different options to the other party (Meredith, Shafer, & Mantel, 2017). It becomes possible for the project manager to provide a complete picture during the meeting to the other party to reach a mutual agreement.

Importance of two chosen traits in project management negotiations

Focusing on the significance of communication during the negotiation process, if the project manager is negotiating regarding the triple constraints of the project informing the second party about the only impact of their budget cash flow on the cost as well as a timeline of the project without emphasizing on the quality aspect, the project manager will not successfully share complete information (Demirkesen & Ozorhon, 2017). A mutual agreement might reach during the negotiation process; however, the actual deliverable might be varying from the expected one by the client-side, creating issues in the successful completion of the project.

Focusing on organizing and delegation , if the project manager cannot carry out effective organization and delegation of resources, he cannot present suitable options to the client (Ika et al., 2020). Moreover, the project manager will face certain issues in considering different client-side expectations, whether they could be fulfilled or not positively.

Effect of Triple Constraints on Project Managers' Negotiation

The triple constraints certainly carry the potential to impact the negotiation process. For example, if the client is willing to reduce the project's cost by eliminating certain activities, the project manager must inform the client about the project's cost and quality aspect, which may be affected . Creasy, Fan, & Johnson (2017) informs that the project manager needs to keep an eye on all the triple constraints of the project while making any offers to the client; otherwise, he might face the client's objections at subsequent stages.

Benefits and Challenges of keeping key stakeholders involved regarding project progress

The key benefit of keeping all the key stakeholders involved regarding the project's progress is that all the stakeholders are informed about the project's completed and pending tasks. They can exert their efforts in the right direction to contribute towards the project's success (Silvius, 2017). It contributes to the employees' motivation and morale to increase the project's success rate with a high retention rate. However, the key challenges in this regard involve developing and implementing an effective communication plan at the workplace (Ika et al., 2020). The threat of confidential information leakage regarding the project is also present.

Conclusion

Organizing and delegating effective communication skills are the key traits for successful project negotiation. Triple constraints tend to impact the negotiation process marginally. The project manager needs to identify and implement suitable strategies during the project for keeping all the stakeholders informed regarding the project progress
