MEMORANDUM

DATE: 17/01/2021

TO: Chief Executive Officer, Vampire Legends Organization

FROM: CIO, Ancient Age

SUBJECT: Analysis of Information Security Components and Role of Ethics

Part I: Analysis of Components of Information Security

Information security is used to keep and secure data from any alterations and unauthorized access. Data may be transmitted from one place to another or from one machine to another, and therefore, there is a need for information security. In the 21st Century, data security has been emphasized and given a lot of concern (Poltavtseva & Kalinin, 2019).

There are three basic components of information security, namely: integrity, confidentiality, and availability. Integrity is associated with data maintenance in its unaltered state and prevents it from any malicious, accidental, or improper modifications. Many techniques of data confidentiality protect data integrity. Checksums are tools that help in the verification of data integrity. There is also data control software and backups that help in restoring data to the desired state. Non-repudiation is a concept covered in data integrity where a person should prove that integrity has been maintained, especially in law contexts.

Confidentiality is another element that comes to mind when dealing with information security. Data confidentiality is when those who can access data can identify who tries to access data and block their attempts. This will involve the use of encryption, passwords, authentication, and defense against any penetration attacks. Data availability gives a mirror image of data confidentiality (Poltavtseva & Kalinin, 2019). This ensures that data can be accessed by those people who are permitted to do so. This involves matching the network and other computing resources to the volume of data access and implementing a better backup policy needed for accidental recovery purposes.

Given that expenses are nearly exhausting the budget, the allocation strategy would prioritize the main expenses, which involve office work and information dissemination. The company should use the advertising campaign, “Your whole life partner," to ensure that it captures customers' attention and esteem.

Information security management towards taking a course of action towards risks and threats should be emphasized. The organization should ensure that any suspected threat is dealt with before it becomes a major challenge. A course of action should be taken against all suspected and involved criminals.

Part II: The Role of Ethics

Conflicts arise in any organization, and therefore, it is the role of ethics to intervene. The conflicting parties should balance their interests and reach a consensus. As a Chief Executive Officer, you will prescribe a process that will incorporate all the organizational ethical dimensions to the decision, bringing success to Vampire Legends Organization. Conflicts within an organization have several consequences. It causes mental health issues where an employee becomes frustrated and feels unrecognized by other group members (Grigoropoulos, 2019). As an organization spends most of its time resolving conflicts, organizational productivity decreases as there is no time to set goals. Other employees can quit the job, which would lead to new recruitment, which impacts employee turnover.

To solve the conflicts that may arise within the workplace, the employees should be encouraged to always talk with each other. This would help in identifying the points of agreement and disagreements. A problem indeed shared is always a problem solved. When the organization prioritizes the area of conflict, this will build on its success. A high standard of ethics in an organization contributes to high revenue (Van, 2020). This is because it reduces the cost of transactions, builds the foundation for stakeholders, and contributes to teamwork success. Ethics maintain social capital, which is the market image for the organization.

Please inform me if any other questions may arise. At that point, I appreciate your unity and cooperation as we look forward to seeing the organization's success.
