Assessment 1– Literature Review (30%)

Individual assessment – Prepare and write a literature review on one of the topic options (see below) up to 1500 words (+/- 5%) - 30% of overall marks. Details of formats for a literature review will be provided in tutorials.

You must submit the literature review in Microsoft word format.

The literature review paper is limited to 1500 (+/- 5%) words and a word count is to be provided on the last page.

Harvard referencing will be required – a minimum of 10 academic references (Journal articles written between 2011 to 2021 are acceptable) will be required. Harvard referencing is absolute and deviation from this direction will result in a fail grade. Students who opt for usage of internet references only or who do not provide the minimum of 10 academic references will not pass.

Plagiarism rate of 5% must not be exceeded

Overall presentation of the paper – 5

Your commitment to academic process - 5

Clarity of writing and writing technique - 5

Conclusion: A synthesis of your paper - 5

Citations/References presented in Harvard format – 5

A subjective view by the lecturer on your overall understanding of the task – 5


Chosen Title: Is transport, distribution and logistics in your global region efficient? (ie : Compare transport, distribution and logistics efficiencies of China, Malaysia and Thailand.)

** Introduction – elaborate the theories of transport, distribution and logistics. State the importance of these aspects to the international trade and economy.

** Body – comparing transport, distribution, logistics operations (focus on their efficiencies) in China, Malaysia and Thailand. ** focus on the topics of modes of transport, route availability, port functionality (eg: transhipment hub/ terminal, intermediate destination for containers), types of warehousing service, cost, speed, service quality, consistencies, technologies exploited, adoption of advanced systems in warehouses( eg: wms, edi, rfid etc..), information flow and product flow.

** use large logistics corporations available in these 3 countries as reference and example to elaborate further.

** Conclusion – A good summarization for the entire literature review
