Should student loans be forgiven?

Purpose Statement

At the end of my speech, my audience will understand why student loans should not be forgiven.

Thesis Statement

In my own opinion, student loans should not be forgiven.

Introduction

  1. Student loans have been a discussion in many forums, with many people claiming or suggesting that student loans should be forgiven.

  2. In my own opinion, student loans should not be forgiven.

  1. Yes, I agree that some students come from very poor backgrounds, and it may be difficult for them to repay the loans, but what was the intention of giving the loan?

  2. The loans are given with very low interest making it not so difficult for the students to repay the loans.

  3. The government should come up with projects that will create jobs for these students to ensure that they can repay these loans.

First main point

Yes, I agree that some students come from very poor backgrounds, and it may be difficult for them to repay the loans, but what was the intention of giving the loan?

  1. To help the student work hard.

  2. Help their parents out the poor situations (Hershbein & Kevin).

Second main point

The loans are given with very low interest making it not so difficult for the students to repay the loans.

  1. If the government decides to forgive these loans, they will not be acting as a motivation to work hard to clear their debts.

  2. Student loans are of great help to many students because they enable them to access higher-level education, giving them great exposure in their lives (Layman).

Third Main Point

The government should come up with projects that will create jobs for these students to ensure that they can repay these loans.

  1. A youth who has undergone tertiary education has great exposure to various things that are helpful in their life.

Conclusion

In my own opinion, student loans should not be forgiven.

The fact that the students are still contributing tax to the same government is also a way of repaying the loans they have been given. As they debate whether to forgive the loans or if they are going to ask the students to repay the loans, they should consider that these are the same people who are contributing tax to the government.

Should celebrities who break the law face stricter penalties?

Purpose Statement

At the end of my speech, my audience will understand why celebrities should be held accountable for the crimes they commit.

Thesis Statement

Celebrities should be held accountable for the crimes they commit because they are not in any way above the law, and they should also face their full consequences for their actions.

Introduction

  1. Celebrities are normal people. The only difference between celebrities and normal people is that the latter do not parade their lives on social media platforms than the former.

  2. Celebrities should be held accountable for the crimes they commit because they are not in any way above the law, and they should also face their full consequences for their actions.

  1. In many countries, celebrities are seen as role models to the youths because most of them have realized their talents and used them to achieve their dreams.

  2. When you look at the history of many celebrities who have been committing crimes, they have been walking freely even after doing something against the law.

First main point

In many countries, celebrities are seen as role models to the youths.

  1. Because most of them are people who have realized their talents.

  2. They have used them to achieve their dreams.

Second main point

When you look at the history of many celebrities who have been committing crimes, they have been walking freely even after doing something against the law (Um).

  1. Consider the case of Justin Bieber, who has been committing a series of unlawful acts when he is under the influence of multiple substances. Still, at the end of the day, he walks out with a small amount of bond, or at times the police never get to arrest him.

  2. For instance, in 2014, in Miami, Bieber drag raced a Ferrari with his Lamborghini when he was under multiple substances. He was then arrested, and he pleaded guilty to driving carelessly and being resistant to arrest. He was then released from jail after he paid a bond of $2500.

Conclusion

  1. In many countries, celebrities are seen as role models to the youths because most of them have realized their talents and used them to achieve their dreams.

  2. When you look at the history of many celebrities who have been committing crimes, they have been walking freely even after doing something against the law.

Celebrities should be held accountable for the crimes they commit because they are not in any way above the law, and they should also face their full consequences for their actions.

From the above case, we can conclude that some celebrities even develop arrogance towards the law because they know they can easily bail themselves out of jail. The law is not meant for the normal citizen alone, but it should apply equally to every citizen, either a celebrity or not.
