Task 1: Plan and gather information

For each topic, write an overview summary of 500 words or less that identifies the topic and describes the process you used to gather at least three credible and relevant sources of information for your literature review. In your response you must address each of the following criteria:

  1. Introduce the topic you have chosen and identify how researching the literature in this area may support and improve your work practices.

  2. Provide a clear statement defining the research objectives of your literature review.

  3. Describe the methods you used to systematically gather information for your literature review and provide a rationale for why these were appropriate.

  4. Describe at least three credible sources of data and information you accessed for your literature review.

  5. Explain how you determined whether the information you gathered was relevant to your chosen topic and research objectives.

  6. Describe how you organised the data and information you gathered in a way that helped you to use it in your literature review.

  7. Describe how you prioritised which sources of data and information to discuss in your literature review.

Task 2: Analyse and present findings

For each topic, write a literature review of 1000 words or less that analyses three or more credible sources of information and assesses how the findings might be applied in your professional context. In your literature review you must address each of the following criteria:

  1. Identify at least two current trends in this topic area and evaluate their relevance to your area of professional practice.

  2. Compare and contrast the different sources of literature that you have accessed and comment on their merits in terms of their:

    1. strength (the robustness of the studies)

    2. relevance to your professional context

    3. (statistical) reliability

    4. currency of the information.

  3. Assess and discuss the feasibility of incorporating the findings of the research into your professional context, and any benefits or risk associated with this.

  4. Identify areas of the research that warrant further investigation, either because of the limited scope of the research you have undertaken, or the limitations of the studies cited.

  5. Provide the reader with a summary of your findings and conclusions based on the literature that you have reviewed.

  6. Recommend two actions based on your research findings and conclusions. These may be in relation to further research, or implementing the findings of the research, or both.

  7. Include a bibliography using the APA style of referencing.

Topic one: Social determinants of health.

Task 1: Plan and gather information.

  1. Introduction of Social determinants of health topic and researching the literature in this area may support and improve your work practices.

According to Australia’s health 2016, we can define social determinants of health as conditions in the setting where individuals live or are born. Researching this topic will help individuals affected in having the required healthcare services and have many lives saved.

  1. Provide a clear statement defining the research objectives of your literature review

To find out the conditions in the setting where individuals are born, live, or work. To evaluate and determine how to deal with the conditions reflected in the societal backgrounds.

  1. Describe the methods you used to systematically gather information for your literature review and explain why these were appropriate.

Observation - Since collecting data is an essential aspect in formulating the hypothesis, I accomplished this research as a complete observer. Based on the area of research, the observation method was the best since I diffused all the unwillingness of all individuals on giving more information about the determinants of health and got the correct information I needed. Accurate results on the topic are obtained through this method of information collection.

Questionnaires - I organised questionnaires with topics or questions on the know-how of the economic stability of the society, their educational access and at what level, their health access, and the quality of the health they get. With questionnaires, I collected correct information based on the topics mentioned above, which will in turn used to assess the social determinants of health.

Rationale - The use of questionnaires and observations are suitable methods of data and information collection since they provide efficient and quicker obtaining of large amounts of data and the required information obtained from larger groups of individuals. With these methods, only the researcher or the observer needs to be present in the area where the research is to be conducted.

  1. Describe at least three credible sources of data and information you accessed for your literature review.

Chronic disease indicators – This source enabled me to retrieve data on the geographic area’s statistics on chronic diseases, the overarching conditions, which are social determinants of health, and the risk factors.

Infirmity of the Healthcare System – This helps access information on six functional disability types: hearing, vision, cognitive, mobility, independent living, and self-care. This source helps us know the health differences among the individuals without and with disabilities by either age or gender.

Local health data - Estimations will allow local health departments to understand on better grounds the burden of geographical health-related determinants since data that is basically on the health sectors reflects all what the patients go through.

  1. Explain how you determined whether the information you gathered was relevant to your chosen topic and research objectives.

The information and data that I collected reflected all the issues reported on the healthcare system. Based on the research, for example, more individuals are disabled due to the poor quality of the health care systems in the geographical area.

  1. Describe how you organised the data and information you gathered in a way that helped you to use it in your literature review.

For the data to help establish the determinants of health, I stored the collected information in tables where I would access it easily. Also, I used pie charts to track the fraction of adults verse the children affected. With these data well organised, I used it in the topic of determinants of health.

  1. Describe how you prioritised which sources of data and information to discuss in your literature reviews.

I considered the type of topic I am handling and came up with the correct data sources and information to discuss. Sources like looking at the levels of chronic infections will highly help determine determinants of health.

Topic one: Social determinants of health.

Task 2: Analyse and present findings.

  1. Identify at least two current trends in this topic area and evaluate their relevance to your area of professional practice.

Chronic conditions - A rise in preventable chronic conditions is a current trend on determinants of health because it is encouraging medical facilities to come together with software developers basing on the SDOH. This current trend enhances medical care organisations in recognition and learning from all the latest SDOH statistics. Although regular and expensive, numerous ongoing chronic conditions are likewise preventable. Numerous constant chronic conditions are connected to a way of life decisions inside your own hands to change in the topic of social determinant of health. Eating nutritious food varieties, getting all the more genuinely dynamic, and keeping away from tobacco can help hold you back from creating a significant number of these infections and conditions. Furthermore, regardless of whether you as of now have coronary illness, diabetes, joint pain, or another persistent condition, eating more empowering food and getting more exercise, whether it is an energetic walk, a bicycle ride, a run, or a swim, can assist you with bettering your sickness, keep away from entanglements and draw out your life.

Digital health vendors - In light of different SDOH imbalances and trends, computerised wellbeing merchants have seised the chance to join medical care partners with the devices expected to handle SDOH. Medical care associations offer help administrations, plan with local area associations, and offer well-being hazard evaluations.

  1. Compare and contrast the different sources of literature that you have accessed and comment on their merits in terms of their:

Strength - Comparing the chronic disease indicators and the local health data, the former has more strength on SDOH. The main merit behind this chronic disease indicator and the local health data is that when one uses chronic indicators, there are improved outcomes in healthcare based on the SDOH. The main strength of chronic disease indicators is that some chronic outcomes indicators may be tailored to assess outcomes of interventions within the area in which I did the research. This will allow accountability, subsequent funding and enhances program planning for the public medical practice where I consulted, unlike the local health data where you must access the information from the medical facilities, and maybe the information may be corrupted.

Relevance to your professional context - All the literature sources are relevant in the research since they provide the required information needed. Their relevance is needed since the source provided me with the basic information and the needed research process. This property makes all the sources more and more relevant to refer to during the research process.

Reliability - Local health data is more reliable since one can find the needed information, but you can not collect the required information from a chronic individual suffering from chronic indicators. Information can be obtained from the local health facilities efficiently since more patients attend, for example, clinics, go for check-ups. Therefore, the reliability of information based on every patient is more than the chronic disease indicators. When you are conducting the research on a particular patient, and he or she is in a critical condition when one is conducting the research, obtaining information from the patient undergoing the problem will be a bit harder. This is because it takes longer to understand the chronic disease indicators accompanying the patient’s present state. Therefore, getting chronic disease indicators is unreliable when a researcher needs immediate information to understand since it requires much time to examine, unlike the local health data, which is a more reliable source of information.

Currency of the information. - Chronic disease indicators source may be an expensive source of information since you will be dealing with chronic individuals. In order to undergo all the processes to get the actual chronic disease indicators of a specific chronic condition, you might undergo some higher costs before you attain the actual results, unlike for Local Health data, which entails information accessible from the bodies in charge. These in charge bodies may be medical facilities. For instance, one can access information from a medical facility that a specific patient attends during clinic times. This access may not have expenses involved; hence this source is much cheaper than the chronic disease indicators.

  1. Assess and discuss the feasibility of incorporating the research findings into your professional context and any benefits or risks associated with this.

Legal feasibility – It evaluates if any aspect of the research on SDOH conflicts with the legal requirements, for example, social media laws. The main benefit of this assessment is that it facilitates risk management in the healthcare sector.

Technical feasibility – This valuation emphasises the technical possessions already in the association. It has a benefit where it helps associations to determine if technical resources meet capacity. The idea of a mechanical working model is simpler to get a handle on and comprehend than web-based business, programming, or administration-related items in the topic of SDOH. Web-based business models require confirmation of coordinating the PCs, workers, programming, and programming expected to help the operational idea. Administrations, bundled as a bunch of significant worth added exercises, have to to convey noticeable advantages. The main benefit of technical feasibility is that it shows all the technical issues involved in the research process and how all these will help in the research topic.

Economic feasibility – This feasibility entails how helpful is SDOH research before any allocation of resources is done. This feasibility improves decision-making in the organisation.

  1. Identify areas of the research that warrant further investigation, either because of the limited scope of the research you have undertaken or the limitations of the studies cited.

Determinants of weakness in children are a crucial area that needs further investigations to understand the actual causes. Further investigation should be set to conduct this research and know the leading causes of weakness in young children and how to solve all the determinants.

Another area that needs further investigation is the issue to do with infectious diseases among individuals. This could not be done due to the limited time allocated for the research.

  1. Provide the reader with a summary of your findings and conclusions based on your reviewed literature.

Based on the finding I got from the research of SDOH, it is a clear reflection that major factors like education, health quality services, to mention a few, are the social determinants of health. Poor health services are the causes of why many individuals are disabled or having chronic diseases.

To conclude, efficient and helpful mechanisms should be put in place so that many individuals will not suffer. People should be educated on matters of healthcare and how to stay healthy. Efficient and quality health services should be provided in society.

  1. Recommend two actions based on your research findings and conclusions. These may be about further research, or implementing the findings of the research, or both.

I recommend that an automated machine that treats chronic diseases should be put in place in the geographical area.

I also recommend that highly trained health specialists be posted in the geographical area to help patients with severe conditions.

  1. Include a bibliography using the APA style of referencing

Topic two: Patient/person-centered care.

Task 1: Plan and gather information.

  1. Introduce the topic you have chosen and identify how researching the literature in this area may support and improve your work practices.

Patient-centered care emphasizes one’s healthcare requirements. It allows active collaboration in sharing decisions between the patients and their families to be helped. Researching this topic in detail will empower and authorize patients to become lively contributors in their care.

  1. Provide a clear statement defining the research objectives of your literature review.

  • To determine individual health outcomes among the involved patients.

  • To find out the level of morale and productivity in the healthcare sector.

  • Another objective of this research is to evaluate the total cost of care encountered among the patients.

  1. Describe the methods you used to systematically gather information for your literature review and provide a rationale for why these were appropriate.

  • Observation – Since collecting data is an essential aspect in formulating the hypothesis, I accomplished this research as a complete observer. Based on the area of research, the observation method was the best since I diffused all the unwillingness of all patients on giving more information about patient-centered care and got the correct information I needed.

  • Interviews – I used the interview method to collect data on the parent-centered care where I interviewed the affected patients and their families, and organized data is required to formulate the final report. This method of data collection has a benefit since you understand when then patient is issuing the correct data and when he or she is not.

  • Rationale – my consideration of these two data collection methods was because these methods are cheap and can be used in various areas, including those based on parent-centered care. With all the above methods, I collected the actual information that I needed and was able to have perfect outcomes based on the research.

  1. Describe at least three credible sources of data and information you accessed for your literature review.

  • Patient’s storyline – first, I asked for the patient’s storyline to understand more about the sickness and the illness he is encountering. Since the affected patient is only one who understands his or her wellbeing, I relied with the patient so that I can attain the correct information I needed.

  • Local health data - Estimations allowed me to understand on better grounds the health of patients from how the illness started up to the current state.

  • The family believes and customs – I also consulted and wanted to understand more about the patient’s family customs and beliefs to not go beyond their expectations while doing the research.

  1. Explain how you determined whether the information you gathered was relevant to your chosen topic and research objectives.

Concerning the research, the information I collected was relevant and essential since I could determine individual health outcomes among the involved patients and still evaluate the total cost of care encountered among the patients. Also, I was able to recommend the measures to be put in place for the patients suffering to get assistance.

  1. Describe how you organised the data and information you gathered in a way that helped you to use it in your literature review.

For the data to help establish parent-centered care, I stored the information I collected in tally tables to be easily accessible. Also, I used pie charts to track the fraction of low-income families verse the affluent families having affected patients. With these data well organized, I was able to use it in the topic of parent-centered care.

  1. Describe how you prioritised which sources of data and information to discuss in your literature review.

Since the research I was conducting was based on parent-centered care, sources of information related to the topic were required. This is the main reason why I used sources like the family customs and beliefs, local health data, and the patient’s storyline.

Topic two: Patient/person-centered care.

Task 2: Analyse and present findings.

  1. Identify at least two current trends in this topic area and evaluate their relevance to your area of professional practice.

Mobile adoption – This is a trend whereby families should be educated on matters concerning mobile usage. The relevance of this trend is that families will be able to access assistance from health specialists and professionals and medication online.

More attentive and efficient care – This trend will enable that patients get the assistance they require urgently and with ease.

  1. Compare and contrast the different sources of literature that you have accessed and comment on their merits in terms of their:

Strength - Comparing the patient’s storyline and the family’s customs and believes, the concluding results has more strength on the topic of patient-centered care. This is because the patient’s storyline is determined highly by the family’s believes and customs.

Relevance to your professional context- All the information I needed I could find in the sources I used. Therefore, all the sources I used were relevant.

Reliability – Comparing the patient’s storyline and the family’s customs and beliefs, it is hard to get the patient’s story when they are in a critical state, unlike family’s customs can be got from one of the family members.

Currency of the information – Due to the reliability of the two sources of information, the patient’s storyline is more expensive to get than the family believes.

  1. Assess and discuss the feasibility of incorporating the findings of the research into your professional context, and any benefits or risk associated with this.

Technical feasibility – This valuation emphasises the technical possessions already in the association. It has a benefit where it helps associations to determine if technical resources meet capacity. The idea of a mechanical working model is simpler to get a handle on and comprehend than web-based business, programming, or administration-related items in the topic of patient-centered care. Administrations, bundled as a bunch of significant worth added exercises, to convey noticeable advantages. Web-based business models require confirmation of coordinating the PCs, workers, programming, and programming expected to help the operational idea. The main benefit of technical feasibility is that it shows all the technical issues involved in the research process and how all these will help in the research topic.

Legal feasibility – It evaluates if any aspect of the research on parent-centered care conflicts with the legal requirements, for example, social media laws. The main benefit of this assessment is that it facilitates risk management in the healthcare sector.

Economic feasibility – This feasibility entails how helpful is parent-centered care research before any allocation of resources is done. This feasibility improves decision making in the organisation

  1. Identify areas of the research that warrant further investigation, either because of the limited scope of the research you have undertaken, or the limitations of the studies cited.

Support measure is an area that needs to be further investigated to determine whether and how supportive the family members are to their patients. Enough time is needed to investigate the supportive measures that sick individuals undergo.

This is because when you determine that these measures as a researcher, you will know the actual rate of parent-centered care to every patient.

Much time is needed to capture all data for this area so that the correct research report can be got and the correct outcomes, which are the rating of the parent-centered care.

Cultural literacy level – Here, more time should be allowed to measure illiterate people in the community that the family comes from. More illiterate people mean that you will take more time during the research since you will be dealing with people not understanding. For instance, if you are dealing with parent-centered care using some methods like interviews, it will be hard because the society you are dealing with involves illiterate people. Therefore, before you engage yourself in research in a particular society or geographical area, you should need much time to investigate if the people you will be dealing with are illiterate or not. The research outcomes will now determine what type of method as a researcher, you will use that will fit the geographical area, and you will have the perfect data from the research.

  1. Provide the reader with a summary of your findings and conclusions based on the literature that you have reviewed.

Firstly, based on my findings, it is clear that many patients in society are undergoing complex challenges together with their families. Automation of healthcare services in the rural areas may be helpful and reduce the burden on the affected families. Families having these patients are undergoing hard times during the upkeeps of the affected person or patient. As a researcher, you have the best skills required to handle the people you will be encountering during the research process. This will help to have the correct and actual results collected for the measure of parent-centered care.

To conclude, helpful and efficient mechanisms should be put in place to help affected patients. Families should be educated on matters of healthcare and how to keep their patients healthy. Efficient and quality health services should help patients in critical conditions and reduce burdens to the families.

Proper food strategies should be put in place to help the affected families in helping their affected individuals. Measuring parent-centered care in society will be of great help since you will understand all required to help all patients in a given geographical region. The issues of food should be addressed, but the infrastructure issues should also be addressed and quick action taken to make all things work as expected.

  1. Recommend two actions based on your research findings and conclusions. These may be in relation to further research, or implementing the findings of the research, or both.

I recommend the government provide food to the families with the patients to have enough to take care of their sick relatives. Government officials should develop a food strategy to issue food and other essential credentials to the affected families to help their patients. With this act, many families will not have many burdens to take care of their relatives having challenges.

I also recommend that the infrastructure in the society should be in an excellent condition to ease movements and when the government is taking food to the affected families. With good infrastructure, the government will be able to transport food and other basic needs to families with some challenges with their relatives who have specified illnesses. The benefit of this act is that there will be easy and fast transportation of the food and easy movement of health workers coming to attend to the patients in the specified geographical area.
