Crave TV is a Canadian video streaming platform that features several movies, TV shows, and series across the globe and has become widely popular over the years. The company is headquartered in Canada, and is a subscription based video streaming platform that serves to be a popular source of engagement for several people globally. The company is based on the mission ‘To entertain the world’ (Plesa, 2021). It is through this mission, that the company has established itself as a popular entertainment platform in the world and bagged a huge market share. The company has also promises its viewers stellar performance and its investors a sustained growth and profit over time.

Operations strategy

Crave TV follows a growth strategy to enhance its business operations and increase its profits ("What is Crave™ and how do I use it? : What is Crave™?", 2021). With its growth strategy, the company has slowly diversified and expanded its nature of services. Thus, apart from featuring other TV shows and movies, the company has also launched several Crave TV Originals. The company has also transformed into a subscription based streaming channel where the customers receive unlimited watch time hours by subscribing to the platform. This has gradually expanded the operations and networks of the company along with increasing its customer base and annual revenue. Such an operations strategy also provided considerable competitive advantage to the company amidst several rival firms where it provided both original shows and movies along with the other popular ones at an affordable ad fixed price.

JIT/ Lean concepts

Crave TV has implemented considerable lean concepts and principles in its business operations to achieve its goals in the competitive market. One of the most important ways in which the company included lean concepts is by implementing them in the board meetings. Thus, the company decided that the board would look into more into what the company is actually trying to achieve through direct observation and critical management practices.

Risk and risk strategies
  • The complex structure of the company leads to difficulty in decision-making. Quick decisions that could have benefitted the company, took a lot of time to get implemented.

  • The issue where people claim that Crave TV over charges for the service that they provide which to some extent drives people away from Crave TV and be a customer of any parallel streaming platform.

  • Issue of proper cash flow where the financial planning of the company is not strong to have a in detailed plan for the daily expenses.

Risk management strategies-

  • A well defined organizational structure with strict division of labor would help in avoiding confusion regarding the operations carried out in each section.

  • The company should follow a more uniform pricing policy so that the customers have to pay an equal price for similar services.

  • The company should also develop durable relations with the investors and creditors to receive required funds.

Sustainable operations

Crave TV has been increasingly focusing on issues of global warming and sustainability. Reports claim that by 2022 the company will have no greenhouse emissions. In order to achieve this, the company would first reduce its emissions by 40% and also ensure lower carbon footprint.

Conclusion

It is evident from the discussion that Crave TV has gradually grown to be one of the largest entertainment platforms across the world. Though the company faces certain risks in the competitive market, it is sure to overcome the same through proper risk management strategies.
