CPT INTERNSHIP. Please read the attached files?

In this paper you will analyze problem solving/conflict resolution.  You will write on three (3) situations; one as it relates to you personally (you were involved in/experienced, i.e. a particular assignment, disagreement with a co-worker, miscommunication with a client, etc.), one you observed your supervisor handle (i.e. upset client, project deadline, miscommunication with co-worker/manager, etc.), and one that is applicable to your company as a whole (i.e. change in company policy, new marketing plan, recent company decision, etc.).  You may write about a problem that was solved, a decision that had to be made, a conflict that was resolved, or a mission/task that was accomplished for each of the categories listed above.  This could be an interpersonal event, a situation related directly to the job, or one that relates to both, but should be within the context of the internship. Please give a detailed description of each event and how the situation was handled.  They should each be a different conflict/problem/task accomplished. Please use the prompts below, as needed, to assist you in writing the paper, but do not list them out in a question/answer style.  Conclude the paper with the required analysis section, where you will analyze each of the three situations from a subjective standpoint.  Determine, based on sources you have found and cited, how the situations should be handled professionally, were they handled that way, what could be done differently next time, what were the good/bad consequences, etc. The paper should be 3-5 double-spaced, typed pages, 12-pt font with 1 inch margins.  Please choose one format style, either MLA or APA, for the paper. https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/purdue_owl.html

This paper will be graded on content (25 points), grammar (5 points), length (5 points), including a strong analysis section (10 points), and consistent MLA or APA formatting (5 points).

Q) The paper should answer the following questions for each of the three (3) situations required for the paper (personal experience, supervisor, company):

  • What was the problem to solve, decision to be made, action to be taken, mission to be accomplished, controversy to be settled, agreement or understanding to be reached?

  • What were the circumstances surrounding the events which are important to it (place, occasion, social context, time of day, etc.)?

  • Who were the people and/or processes involved? Do not use names, but cite significant factors about them including attitudes, nature of involvement, and relationships between the principals.

  • Describe the emotions, frustrations, discussions, mediation, and compromises that were involved in this incident.

  • Include any other information that would help make the circumstances more understandable.  You may even include your speculation as to the “why” this took place.  What events led up to the problem?  Why do you think the problem started, the decision needed to be made, or the task needed to be accomplished.

  • Describe in detail what the response was to each situation.  How did you/your boss/your company use human relation skills, problem solving skills or specify other skills/knowledge learned directly from classes in the above circumstances.

Analysis

Conclude the paper with the required analysis section, where you will analyze each of the three situations from a subjective standpoint.  Determine, based on sources you have found and cited, how the situations should be handled professionally, were they handled that way, what could be done differently next time, what were the good/bad consequences, etc.

The analysis should be conducted from an outsider’s stand point, in addition to your personal opinion about the situation(s), take the point of view of someone else looking at the situation. For example, how would your boss evaluate the situation.   You will use information found from the required sources to determine what you would do differently in a similar situation.

  • Provide support for your analysis with content from three (3) sources – one (1) source per situation/category documenting how the sources suggest each incident should have been handled or support the handling of the incident.

    • Utilize the citations within the section as appropriate (all quotes and ideas that are not yours (from a website or other source) must be cited appropriately).

    • Acceptable sources include magazine or newspaper articles (print or web version), text books/books and journal articles.

    • Make sure you cite all your sources following the MLA or APA style you have chosen.

  • Indicate how and in what ways the response or solution was successful or unsuccessful.

  • Summarize the alternatives and/or consequences (good or bad).

  • Summarize the insight learned about yourself, your supervisor and your company (including the values and goals), which became clarified.

Any content that is taken directly from a source (i.e. company website, direct quote from an article, etc.) must be cited correctly or it will be considered plagiarism.  It is not acceptable to copy and paste from your own previous work or papers.  This assignment will be submitted through SafeAssign.

NOTE: Discussing this paper with the job supervisor is not required since some of the information may be personal and/or confidential.
