M3A3: Team Project

Driverless Vehicles

Synopsis of Project Topic should include the following:

  • Topic of the Team Project: Driverless Vehicles

  • Rationale: As a team, we have agreed to do our research on driverless vehicles due to the fact there are many factors that can play into it. Such as, will it change how highways are built? What will be the new requirements to legally own a driverless vehicle? The future of driverless vehicles is becoming a technological trend that can ultimately change the way we commute as humans in the future. The idea of what the future of our society can be seen recently through the automated driving systems (ADS), technological advances, and research from a few Motors Vehicle Companies. Vehicles that do self-parking now are only assisted by human supervision. There are risks that need to be looked at for the development of self-driving vehicles.

  • Research Plan: Sources that explain or discuss the early developments of driverless vehicles such as Tesla Auto-Pilot and General Motors technology. The future of driverless cars has already started but not fully implemented in vehicles to drive on their own at all times. These sources can be found all over the internet but the main focus will be the companies that have already developed something close to it. We will research how these vehicles will affect the new way of living. Such as what the car needs to maintain updated navigational maps, what sensors needed to avoid car accidents, and what will they run off such as electric or fuel.

  • Project Plan: Each member of the team will individually research supporting information in regards to the main topic, which will help us view things from a different point of view. Each member will submit their ideas in a discussion thread where we can view and come with an agreement to put in a rough draft. This will show where our similarities and differences are. We will all discuss the flow of the research paper and what needs to be added or taken out. Following the rough draft, we will work as a team to refine any information that is still needed or needs to be taken off. We will all review the rough draft prior to submission. After all reviews are done, we will prepare to complete the final product. Each member will review and give their inputs if they have any and let the team know they have completed the review.
