AMAZON CHANGE ANALYSIS

The change to include robotics in the packaging process for Amazon Company was highly positive due to several factors. Firstly that it led to increased packaging speed; unlike humans, robots can work for long hours and take shorter durations when performing packaging. Secondly, the robots led to customer satisfaction with Amazon Company’s products because, in the past, people would wait for several days and weeks to have their orders delivered. However, the work was streamlined as the time has been reduced to almost 24 hours based on one’s location. This has promoted customers’ confidence to purchase from the company since they know their products will be delivered in a few hours. Li & Liu (2016). Thirdly this project was successful because reduced the overall cost of management for the company. When robots were introduced to the supply chain process, the company saved money used for employing people to deliver the job internally. Robots just require electricity to run effectively. Money was also saved since robots are less prone to making errors or damaging products when packaging, unlike when humans are involved.

Some strategies that were effectively included having a great communication system in the organization that led to the delivery team understanding the preferences of the company. There was proper funding for the project to ensure that the delivered robots were within the company’s expectations. Involvement of the executives throughout the delivery process provided a level of oversight that helped push the system through, thus promoting success. The project team set goals and milestones that were to be achieved to deliver the project’s objectives.

Some alternative strategies that would have worked are involving customers throughout the project to ensure objectives are within their preferences and expectations. There was a need for proper market research to understand what other competing companies were doing. This would have ensured that the new robots provided a competitive edge to Amazon Company.
