You are a Social Worker at a medical clinic. Your role is to assess each client’s psychosocial needs in order to provide appropriate resources in site and off site. In the clinic, a client can receive short-term individual, family and group therapy. Off site, there are many resources you can connect clients to in order to help them with basic needs such as affordable food and housing.

Today you are meeting a woman for the first time, your job is to engage her by following engagement tasks. It’s not time for referrals yet, this is just introducing yourself and building rapport before you can do an assessment and plan referrals!

The events that led up to these attempts were: overwhelming stress at home with the kids (all under 18 y/o), tight finances due to only your husband having a job and marriage problems (your husband is struggling with alcohol abuse and he is at risk of losing his job).
