Style & Mechanics (APA, Grammar/Punctuation/Spelling & Readability/Style)
Guidelines:
Use the APA styles, 7th edition.
Title page required.
Times New Roman font, 12 point.
One-inch margins on all sides.
Paginate your paper in the header.
Always double-space.
Indent every paragraph.
Avoid very long (1 page) and very short (1-2 sentence) paragraphs.
Use headings; this makes the paper more readable.
Include both an Introduction and a Conclusion of half a page (15 lines) at most.
Referencing should be entered in a formal manner in the body of the paper and listed at the end of the paper along with any bibliography.
The title page should contain the course name and number, student’s first and last name, the project name and due date, and the instructor’s name as well as the word count (excluding title page and references).
The lists of references and/or bibliography as well as the title page are in addition to word count specified for the body of the paper.
Marks for APA style, spelling, grammar, and word count are applied to all papers. (See grading rubric).
For advice on writing and referencing, students should refer to the 7th edition of APA writing available on MyUCW’s library portal.
All papers should be submitted in Turnitin, UCW’s plagiarism checker.
Citations are limited to no more than 10% of the paper.
Provide the word count on the title page. Word Count does not include the title page, table of content and the bibliography (references).
Maximum word count 2000.
Include at least 4 valid references in your papers.
