Research Essay Assignment (20%)

The Basics

The purpose of this assignment is to create a persuasive essay from your selected Research Topic. You are required to integrate evidence and information from academic sources, develop and organize your ideas to support your thesis and finally format your paper and document all sources according to the APA style guide.

Keys to Success

  • You will write you essay based on your selected Research Topic used on the Annotated Bibliography and Essay Proposal.


  • Format: Double spaced, 4-6 pages and includes all required elements for a research essay discussed in the course – Introduction, three main point section, conclusion.


  • Strongly recommended to review the information about essay structure and development we reviewed in the course to ensure you have included all required elements. Your essay should have a title page and a reference page. Your essay should also have an introduction paragraph, 3 body paragraphs, and a conclusion.


  • You must include a minimum of 3 research sources including: 1 book and 2 academic journals. At least one source for each supporting argument. The rest of your sources may be your choice. Keep in mind that for research essay’s books and journals typically have the most accurate and reliable information.


  • You MUST cite all sources using APA format on a Reference Page at the end of your paper and include in text citations throughout where necessary.


  • Your paper should follow APA formatting, double spaced, 12pt. font, page numbers, etc.

Writing Mechanics &
