Outline with Bibliography Assignment 10 % (Due November 13th – approx. 1 -2 pages ) Building off your Research Statement Assignment, Essay 1, and the preliminary research you have done by this stage, you now must create a rough (full sentence or point form) outline of the final paper you hope to write. This assignment should consist of the following items: 1. An introductory paragraph which includes your thesis statement and introduces the reader to the topic 2. 3 - 4 main points listed in bullet form to sup port your thesis statement 3. 2 - 3 supporting points in bullet form for each of your main points, accompanied by reference source citations (if applicable) 4. A brief conclusion 5. A bibliography of the sources you used to create and inform your outline (choose whatever format you would like to try out. e.g., APA , MLA, or Chicago style ) The order of information should be logical. The goal of a good outline is to help you focus your research and your thoughts. A good outline will also dictate the correct structur e for your essay, which will help your audience better understand the paper. Note: You must find/read actual sources & do some preliminary research in order to create an effective outline. By doing the initial research, you will have a better idea of the key points you want to make in your essay (as opposed to guessing at the structure the essay should take).

These points may change by the time you write your re search paper, but getting an early direction & focus are key to writing a successful paper.
