Do you think implementing activity-based costing in an organization to make better business decisions is worth the added expense? Why, or why not?

Respond to post # 1 (SB)

Activity-based costing involves distinguishing costs in line with the action that is implicated in each step of the manufacturing process. Though the price tag for activity-based costing is higher, it provides the business with better information than a more common method of costing, which provides an overlay of cost disbursement. Activity-based costing assists a business in gaining profits and improving its performance. Activity-based costing can assist an organization in restructuring any costs, identifying projects with the highest costs, and identifying those that are inefficient. By using activity-based costing, the organization can possibly alleviate the inefficient processes and, in particular, the ones that cost the company the most. Activity-based costing can also help a company decide how much to charge consumers for a product while still making a profit. Activity-based costing can be time-consuming, which can be costly to the business. Activity-based costing can also be dissociated from making decisions. should not be used for external reporting.

Discussion board # 2

Do you think more regulations and standards are needed for setting product prices, or should all companies be free to charge any prices they want? Why, or why not?

Discussion board # 3

How much do you rely on communications? When you answer this, consider the number of text messages, phone calls, and e-mails you have either sent or received in the last 24 hours from your computer or smartphone. Is the number any different from one of the days from last week? Do you think you could refrain from sending or receiving any of these types of communication for a day? Why, or why not? How reliant are you on telecommunications? Explain.

I rely soooo much on communication! I am a very social person and talk to my friends all throughout the day. I also share custody of my kids so I am constant contact with them if they are not with me. I don't know that I could go an entire day without sending communications. Those communications are kind of my lifeline to those around me. While I go to work and see people everyday, they are not the same as far as my friends go. I love to check in with them and see how they are, provide encouragement, or share a laugh to get through the day. I think I am pretty consistent in always communicating with others, and I hope those I hold close feel that way also. I am not as much a phone talker as I am a texter. I am very cognizant of not feeling like a "bother" to people and feel like a text message is less intrusive. People can read it at their leisure and answer back when and if they have the time

Discussion board # 4

You are the owner of a discount furniture company that has expanded from a rural store in one state to 20 stores across the United States. Discuss at least one reason why your company should think about implementing an enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution. Discuss at least one challenge to implementing an ERP.

Respond to discussion board # 3

My company is called JP Hairrun and we recently have expanded from a rural store in one state to 20 stores across the United States. This is a big move that comes with al ot of chnaces and changes. On the possitive note, we are able to provide quality hair to a variety of customers.I belive that implementing a resource such as enterprise resource planning solution is vital to maintaining and gaining success. Enterprise resource planning is a software that shares information between different functions in real time. It adds logic to replace repetative tasks. It's automatic information driven by real time intelligence to make the world run better and improve lives.

With having 20 stores across the United States my business would definitely need a way to get information to and from in real time. With everything there is always a challenge. One challenge in which  I could come across is the absence or lack of participation and user involvement. Also if their is a lack of team members and subject matter experts in the functional and department areas.
