Leadership book presentation - here are a few reminders that you might find helpful.

There are certain requirements for this assignment that students sometimes overlook. For that reason, here are a few things I'd like to bring to your attention for your presentations:

1)  Make sure the presentation is either a PowerPoint or a Prezi presentation - no other type will be allowed.

2)  The font size for the titles of slides is to be a size 44.

3)  The font size for bullets on slides is to be between sizes 28-34.

4)  Maximum of 12 slides allowed (does not include the title, agenda, or reference slides).

5)  Speaker notes are to be included on every slide (except not the title, agenda, or reference slides).

6)  No paragraphs or long sentences on any slides - use bullet points only

7)  Cite any information from your book on the slide - use a smaller font for the citation if you wish – this means there should be a citation on virtually every slide for anything that comes from the book. Do not put citations in the speaker notes section because the audience does not see these notes.

8)  Create an agenda slide for the presentation

9)  Review the instructions in the Week 11 Content Folder titled “Book Review Presentation” to see the 8 questions that you are to address with this presentation.  If any of these questions are not answered it will lower the grade the presentation will receive.

10)  Review the instructions for this in the syllabus - lots of information there.

11)  Review the sample PPT that I emailed everyone last week.

12)  Make sure my name is on the first slide.

13)  Make sure the file is less than 10 MB in size.  If it is 10MB or larger, it will have to be compressed.

Create and deliver an effective presentation.

Demonstrate passion and connect with your audience.

Develop verbal and nonverbal presentation skills.

In addition to the book, please include three additional references. Be sure to fully cite your presentation using 7th edition APA for in-text citations and references.

As we may/may not be sharing your LIVE presentation with the class. Be sure to add all of your speaker’s notes in the notes page area for each slide (the notes should not be visible to the audience).

Leadership Book Review Presentation is due on April 2nd.

Message from prof:

As an example of a Leadership Book PPT that I could share -  While I don't have one for a leadership book, I did create a book PPT using the assignment guidelines about a book I recently finished reading.  I used the instructions for the PPT assignment in this course to put it together as an example.  Pay close attention to the font sizes of the titles of slides and the text on the slides. This is important, so pay attention to that.

It is not a leadership book, but it does contain all the slide requirements the assignment asks for and these are in the correct font size for titles and content on slides in bullet format.  As is stated in the instructions, the bulk of what you will say when you do your presentation is to be noted in the speaker notes section at the bottom of each slide - which is not visible to your audience.  You are not to read off your slides, they are just to contain bullet points of the highlights that you elaborate on verbally when giving your presentation.

Remember no paragraphs on the slides either and citations on every slide except for the title slide, agenda slide, and reference(s) slide(s).

Please refer to the example PPT I have attached here.  This was not done on a leadership book, but it will provide an overview of how your presentation should be formatted.  Keep an eye on the font sizes of the titles of the slides and the text on the slides.  Many people use much too small font sizes on these presentations.  Keep in mind that PPT slides would be projected on a screen for an audience to read, so they cannot have a small size font on them.

Do not use the example PPT (attached below) as the base for this presentation, we are to create our own template and own slide design for this assignment. (Part of the requirements for this assignment is that you design the whole presentation yourself including the style chosen etc.). Note the size of the headings and the text on the example PPT, they are the correct sizes that I want to see on your slides. Thanks!
