26-year-old male present with flu like symptoms fever and body aches. KN was last seen

on 12/20/2022 and was diagnosed with HIV and prescribed to take Protease inhibitors (PIs).

The patient stated he has not been taking prescribed have medication for the past 3 months.

Denies drug use patient is a recovering heroin addict since 2022. Patient started heroin use back 2015 after the death of his parents. Patient now living with his grandparents with goals of being an artist. Patients spend is night drinking and hanging at local gay bars. Lab results CD4 cell count 100 mm 3, WBC 3.3 Positive for chlamydia TB Negative. Drug Screen shows patients have used heroin in the past 30 days. Patient has been diagnosed with AIDS and started on Antiviral therapy to suppressed symptoms

HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is a virus that attacks cells that help the body fight infection, making a person more vulnerable to other infections and diseases. It is spread by contact with certain bodily fluids of a person with HIV, most commonly during unprotected sex (sex without a condom or HIV medicine to prevent or treat HIV), or through sharing injection drug equipment. AIDS is the most advanced stage of HIV.

I learned from my research that you HIV/Aids is no longer a death sentence. An estimated 1,189,700 people in the United States had HIV at the end of 2019, the most recent year for which this information is available. Of those people, about 87% knew they had HIV. My advice is get tested annually
