As part of your Leadership Development Plan be sure to complete the following 2 assessments per the instructions:


Leadership Development Plan:  Your Leadership Development Paper is due on 4/16.  I emailed the template that I want you to use for this paper. Make sure that you follow that template and include all of the headings from it in your paper. I cannot tell you how many times students fail to complete the Authentic Leadership and Emotional Intelligence Assessments and discuss them in the paper.  I do not want students to simply define these terms in the paper, you are to be analyzing your results from the two assessments and discuss them in the paper.  Make sure you discuss the results of the Authentic Leadership and Emotional Intelligence assessments in the paper.  

NOTE:  Both of these assessments can be found in the Assessments folder which is just above the Week One folder on the Course Content page.

This is your last written assignment for this course, and it is worth 25% of the course grade, so do the best you can on it. 



Leadership Development Plan:  Now you need to shift your energies to begin working on your Leadership Development Plan which is due at the end of week 13.  I will email you all a template that I created for this assignment that I want you to use.  Students in another class asked for this template and they found it helpful in putting the paper together.  One of the important parts of this paper is the inclusion of headings throughout the paper.  Papers that are uploaded without headings will require revision for a reduced grade, so please don’t leave the headings out.


NOTE:  I also want to bring to your attention the fact that you must make sure that you do not copy anyone else’s work when writing your leadership development paper.  You are to be writing your paper about your leadership development.  I have failed students in the past that copied another student’s paper, so don’t do it.  Make sure that you properly cite any information that comes from a source, and that you use the proper APA format.  Limit direct quotations to no more than one or two short statements. The rest of the information you wish to include must be paraphrased and cited properly. Don’t include anything in the paper that is not your own, without citing it.

3)  Use the Template: Make sure you write your paper using the Leadership Development Plan paper template that is attached to this email.  Papers that do not follow this template will require a revision.  Include all sections - follow the template outline so nothing is left out.  Make the paper personal about you because this is your leadership development plan, not a plan for leaders in general - but you.

This paper will allow you to examine your leadership skills and develop a plan for moving forward.

  • • Analyze your current leadership skills based on what you have learned in this course.

  • • Identify your primary style of leadership.

    • • Identify 2 leadership theories/styles that would be beneficial to your current/future leadership role. • Summarize your understanding of both.

    • • Explain how you would apply both to make you a more effective leader.

    • • Illustrate 2 positive outcomes that you would expect to occur from each.

    • • Examine your results from the following assessments completed throughout the term: Authentic Leadership and Emotional Intelligence. • Summarize each area and identify 2 areas within each assessment you wish to further develop.

    • • Identify how you will develop each over the next year and how it will make you a more effective leader.

    • • Illustrate 2 positive outcomes that you would expect to occur from each.

    • • Develop a personal leadership philosophy and support your ideas with material from this course and outside research. • Provide an example where your leadership philosophy can be applied to lead an organizational change

    • • Your leadership philosophy does not have to be any specific leadership model we reviewed. Rather, it should represent your trajectory of leadership as it applies to your career aspirations. Consider your leadership style, personality, career path and the industry you work (or wish to work in) and determine which leadership skills will be most effective.

    • • Submit a 6 to 8-page paper double spaced • Please provide at least six (6) scholarly references to support your paper.


  1. • All references should be used as in-text citations.

  2. • All work must be completed in 7th edition APA format.

  3. • A title page and reference page must be included.

  4. Do not include an abstract in this paper.
