Abstract

1. Thesis Statement: Your thesis statement can be a sentence, paragraph, or paragraphs. However long you choose to make it, your thesis statement needs to be clear, concise, and explanatory of the project overall. I recommend completing this section last. Ideally, you will be able to copy and paste this section into your final paper (making small adjustments as needed).

2. Description of Project: In a minimum of 250 words, explain what the project is and how you plan to go about completing it (interviews, archives, secondary and primary sources to explore, and so forth). Discuss important questions you plan to address along the way in both research and in the final paper. If your work is influenced by specific works, include a discussion of said works and how/why they influenced your interest in this research project.

3. Proposed Outline with Descriptions: In a minimum of 100 words, how are you envisioning the final product (a paper)? The purpose of the outline is to help you plan your research and organize your thoughts. As a proposal, this outline may change, but, theoretically, how do you plan to organize it and what will each section hold?

4. Evaluative Annotated Bibliography: List 10 sources with evaluative annotation. See https://www.gcumedia.com/lms-resources/student-success-center-content/documents/writing-center/preparing-annotated-bibliographies-apa7-mla8-turabian9.pdf for details on how to go beyond annotation to evaluative annotation.

5. Contribution to Scholarship: In a minimum of 150 words, where do you think your final paper will fit within the literature on this topic? Are you adding to the existing body of knowledge (and how)? Or are you synthesizing existing information so to help other scholars understand the trends and changes in the literature on this topic? Where does your paper fit within the scholarly discussion on your topic?
