Week 2 - Assignment A Instructions

How can I create an effective résumé using the UMA Resume Generator?

Link to Prior Knowledge: This assignment helps you apply your knowledge from this week’s modules and readings.

Career Connection: Your career objective statement can make or break your résumé.  A well-written and focused statement will capture the attention of a prospective employer.  It will clearly tell them why you are applying for their open position.  Most importantly, it will explain why you are a good fit.  It pays to take the time to craft a thoughtful career objective that sets the tone for the rest of your résumé.

In SS2000 you are expected to be professional. Your work should be completed with timeliness, quality, and attention to detail. Employers will expect the same professional habits once you are on the job. This portion of the résumé assignment will not be accepted after week 2.

A reminder about your résumé:

Creating a polished and professional résumé is a process, so be prepared to invest the time necessary to properly edit and revise. Your instructor will provide feedback, which you should use to make improvements.  You may go through several rounds before your résumé is ready to be viewed by an employer.  Be patient and thorough to achieve the best version possible!

A résumé is a “living document” and will change over time.  Make sure that your document always makes the right first impression: it is accurate, up-to-date, and “show-ready”.  Your résumé should always reflect the most professional version of you!
