Applying Social Psychology and Personality

Insert your introduction paragraph under the title of your paper. The introduction paragraph should introduce the topic of your paper. In a few sentences, provide some general information on the topic of your paper. This should be supported by the research you have located on the topic. Conclude this paragraph with a strong thesis statement. This statement presents the purpose of the paper and information that you will cover in your paper: the main topics that will be covered in the body of your paper.

Individual, Group, or Societal Behavior

Explain how knowledge related to social psychology and personality will assist in better understanding and assessing individual, group, or societal behavior. Consider topics such as attributions, stereotypes, competition and cooperation, social facilitation, social loafing, conformity, obedience, social norms, and personality traits such as introversion, agreeableness, and temperament. Provide specific examples that illustrate these concepts.

Writing Tip: Avoid the use of direct quotes. Instead, paraphrase and cite information. When borrowing information from a source, read the source. Then put it away and write what you remember in your own words without looking at the source. This will help you to paraphrase the information rather than directly copy or just change a few words here and there. Cite the information you have included, as these were not your ideas so you must still give credit to the original authors.

Christian Worldview Incorporation

Explain what Christian Worldview principles could be used to improve interactions between individuals from diverse backgrounds. Use the “Statement on the Integration of Faith and Work” in the Class Resources to further develop your response. Provide specific examples that show how Christian Worldview principles are helpful when interacting with others. Support the information presented with scholarly sources/research (in-text citations). Paraphrase and cite information that you are borrowing. Avoid the use of direct quotes. Brief Biblical passages may be used in this section of your paper, but they are not required.

Diverse Backgrounds and Beliefs

Describe how knowledge related to social psychology and personality will better equip you when interacting with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds or belief systems. Apply terms from social psychology and personality in your response. Support the information presented with scholarly sources/research (in-text citations). Paraphrase and cite information that you are borrowing. Avoid the use of direct quotes.

Writing Tip: Paragraphs should be a minimum of three sentences. In addition, they should begin with a topic sentence and be followed by sentences that directly support the topic sentence.

Conclusion

Conclude your paper with a paragraph that summarizes the main points you made in your paper. What do you want your reader to remember when they put your paper down? Include those points in this paragraph. Your conclusion should be about three to five sentences.

**Finally….A full reference list should appear at the end of the paper. It provides the information necessary for a reader to locate and retrieve any source cited in the body of the paper. Each source cited in the paper must appear in the full reference list; likewise, each entry in the reference list must be cited in text. A sample reference page is included below; this page includes examples of how to format different reference types (e.g., book, TEDTalk [Video], information from a website).**
