  1. What, in your opinion is the overall condition of this community?

  2. What are some strengths?

  3. What are the major weaknesses?

  4. Are there any obvious health threats?

  5. Identify your proposed community problem.

Swansea, SC, is a rural community 21 miles north of Columbia, SC. Swansea is a small, family-oriented community. The community is very involved in serving those who may be in need. Swansea has two food distribution centers. Major weaknesses in the community are a lack of transportation, a lack of lighting, and a lack of public transportation. Obvious health threats are obesity, heart disease, and diabetes. My proposed community problem is diabetes or obesity due to the lack of physical activity outdoors.
