attached is the information needed for work

Good morning nurses,

I am seeing a tremendous amount of secondary posts that are NOT researched or referenced. This is not acceptable. As I am sure you are all aware, much of our learning in this course is through discussion. Discussion is the foundation of this course and is, therefore found in almost every module.

The purpose of these discussions is to allow you to dialogue, dissect, and understand the topics, to offer different points of view and provide insight into these topics.  The discussion topics are clearly described within each module with instructions on what your responses should be focusing on. Your discussions will be graded using the grading rubric provided by ESC. I strictly adhere to the grading rubric. Please review the instructions and the module objectives when you post your discussion responses.

You are responsible for managing your own posts. When you post your initial discussion, your classmates will comment on your post. You can add to this discussion by adding more comments. You are also required to respond to your classmate’s posts DURING THE ACTIVE DATES OF EACH MODULE. Any response posted outside the active dates of the module will NOT count for credit. Your responses MUST BE spread out throughout the module. You should NOT post all your responses on just one day. This will prevent you from appreciating the viewpoints and information given by your classmates across the module.

EVERY INITIAL POST SHOULD BE FOLLOWED WITH A THOUGHT-PROVOKING QUESTION ABOUT THE DISCUSSION TO HELP CONTINUE THE DISCUSSION AND DISCOVERY.

These are your discussions. Typically, I read your posts daily and will offer comments, guidance, insight, or redirection of the topic, should that become necessary. Keep in mind when offering your responses that there are guidelines available to you within the rubric which, as I said, I will be using to grade your discussion responses.  If you post only once, I do not consider it a discussion. That demonstrates little participation in the module or the course and will significantly impact your final grade. Please review the grading rubric for discussions. Please check in frequently and respond to comments from your classmates or from me.

Research and references are an important AND required part of our discussions. They support your viewpoints and/or reinforce your information or opinions AND PREVENT PLAGIARISM. These MUST be included in your initial post and at least two of your follow-up posts. Follow-up responses must be "substantive". In other words, they must contain knowledge/learning that is researched and referenced, not just "you did a good job on your post".

If you respond by simply saying you agree with someone else’s post, you will not receive credit for that post. Substantive posts encourage further discussion and learning. These are posts that are supported with research. I expect your posts to be substantive. Non-substantive posts do not receive credit as a response. Please keep this in mind. Remember, this is your discussion. Therefore, it is important for you and the class to enhance the discussions. Discussions are an important part of online courses because they equate to "class participation". Remember, a strong response is supported by the research. ALL REFERENCES MUST BE POSTED at the end of your response IN APA FORMAT.

I WANT TO SEE YOU ASKING A THOUGHT PROVOKING QUESTION AT THE END OF YOUR INITIAL POST TO FACILITATE FURTHER DISCUSSION.

Every source you use must be referenced to avoid plagiarism and these source references must be in APA format, this is a requirement of ESC. If you are making a factual point, you must prove it! I too will provide reference citations for responses that I post which are taken from published sources. There may be some assignments where references do not make sense if you are unsure you can always ask.

My goal is to see everyone is successful in this course!
