A clearly defined problem is crucial to finding and implementing effective solutions. Considering the specific organizational problem that your doctoral study/dissertation could be based on, draft your problem statement. Start your statement with "The problem this study will examine/explore is…"

Part I: Describe in your own words what strategic management means to you. Then, detail a real-life example of either exceptionally good or exceptionally poor strategic management within an organization with which you are familiar. Then, select a peer post and discuss your thoughts on whether the reason for the strategic success or failure was due to strategic analysis, strategic formulation, strategic implementation, or a combination of the above. Include recommendation(s) for future effectiveness.

Part I:

Part II

Strategic Management means having the right people in the best place at the most beneficial time (if possible). Strategic management can help set people up for two possible outcomes: success or failure. I have worked in the safety field for the last 25+ years, and it is very difficult to set people up for success while reacting to an issue. Reacting is usually an afterthought to an unplanned event. To help people succeed, we need to review the policies, procedures, and programs that will help them fulfill the job requirements to the best of their ability. This means they must do our risk assessments well and on time, train our workers on how to do the job and give them the tools and support before they hit the floor to work (Mir, 2018).

For example, A former company I worked for had 126 temporary employees in our facility. The workers were required to perform lockout-tagout (machine energy isolation), after the full-time employee had shut the machine down and did the primary lockout. On my third day with the organization, I watched a temporary employee enter a machine without their lockout completed and asked them why they didn’t follow the requirements. I was advised they did not know they were required to and were simply “handed” the locks without any training. I immediately disqualified all 130 employees (126 temps and 4 supervisors) from working in the production area. This reaction was required because we knowingly put people at risk (Buniya at al., 2023).

During the investigation, I discovered that each person involved knew the requirement was there, but they thought it belonged to the “other person” and did not require validation. The immediate reaction was to retrain 130 people over the next 4 days and get the education and training department involved in the validation process. We also updated the policy that required acknowledgment and signature of the requirements from all Production and Team Leaders. We also set up automatic renewal reminders for anyone who took the training. The individual doing the “temporary training” was told that the locks were needed by one of the trainers as a time saver with no checks and balances (Freitas et al., 2019).

Challenging question: Can Strategic Management initiatives begin anywhere, or does it have to start with the senior leadership?

Discussion board # 2 Strategic Marketing Management

Initial post:  #2

  • Includes one substantive initial post using at least two scholarly or professional references with accompanying in-text citations to support any paraphrased, summarized, or quoted material.

  • your initial post should be at least 350 words.

  • Includes an open-ended, thought-provoking question posed to classmates.

Part I: Marketing has often been defined in terms of satisfying customers' needs and wants. Critics, however, maintain that marketing goes beyond that and creates needs and wants that did not exist before. They feel marketers encourage consumers to spend more money than they should on goods and services they do not really need.

For this discussion, take one of the following positions and then support and defend your position:

  1. Marketing shapes consumers needs and wants.

  2. Marketing only reflects the needs and wants of consumers.

Part II: How does social media marketing impact the above discussion?
