Title of Paper

(Centered and Bolded – should be the same as title on page 1 – title page)

Provide an introduction to your topic and a purpose statement. Generally, an introduction paragraph is short; around 1-2 paragraphs. Do not label the para using “Introduction” as the heading; the paper title at the top of the first page acts as a Level 1 heading. The introduction should provide a BRIEF overview of what will be covered in the paper. The introduction is meant to capture the reader’s attention by introducing the topic but not providing a lot of detail about the topic. Include a purpose statement, which is to overview the importance of responsible opioid prescribing and the role of the nurse practitioner in reducing the risk of opioid misuse. The purpose statement is one sentence.

It tells the reader what to expect in the paper and what the focus will be.

Scholarly Article Summary

(Level 1 Heading: Centered, Bold, Title Case Heading)

Article One (Level 2 heading: Flush left, Bold, Uppercase and Lowercase Heading, no other punctuation)

Start paragraph under heading and indented. Summarize the main ideas from the first scholarly article. Your summary should be clear, accurate, and sufficient in detail. Cite the scholarly article using current APA style guidelines and avoid using direct quotes.

Article Two (Level 2 heading: Flush left, Bold, Uppercase and Lowercase Heading)

Impact on Practice (Level 1 Heading)

Start paragraph under heading and indented. Discuss in detail how the information from the scholarly articles could be used to improve client outcomes. Use appropriate citations from the articles.

Start next paragraph indented. Discuss in detail how the information from the scholarly articles could impact your future practice as a nurse practitioner. Use appropriate citations from the articles.

Conclusion (Level 1 Heading)

Provide a conclusion, including a brief summary of what you discussed in the paper. Do not introduce new information into your conclusion paper. A good rule of thumb is to have a sentence for each main idea/criterion you discussed in the paper.
