This assignment utilizes a case depicting a real-life situation for which you will conduct a detailed case analysis. To begin, read Case 5: Pocket Radar: The Disruptive Innovator in the Sports Radar Gun Market in the textbook.


“Pocket Radar is a well-established brand in the sports radar market….their mission of providing access to accurate radar speed measurements for anyone, and they set out to design a product line to be used by both professionals and everyday consumers alike” (Dess et al., 2024, p. C24). They have a creativity-fueled corporate culture that they believe is superior to a monetarily-motivated system.


After operating for more than 10 years, Pocket Radar “has penetrated a wide number of sport segments, grown from 3 employees to over 30 employees, and experiencing a 5-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 40 percent in sales revenues” (Dess et al., 2024, p. C24). Notwithstanding their success, they must determine how to continue to disrupt innovation into the next decade.


After reading the case, answer the following prompts by providing an in-depth analysis:


  1. Evaluate the roles entrepreneurial strategy and innovation played in first establishing Pocket Radar as the preeminent player in their market.

  2. Discuss the Pocket Radar entrepreneurial and cultural attributes that have fueled the introduction of innovative products to the market.

  3. Classify the key strategic opportunities and threats Pocket Radar is facing today.

  4. Using the opportunities and threats identified in #3 above, appraise specific ways that Pocket Radar can use corporate entrepreneurial strategies, cultural strengths, and innovation to sustain their competitive advantage into the next decade.

  5. Organizational cultures embracing entrepreneurial leadership benefit from managers who serve as exemplars of progressive thinking and recipients of new ideas and knowledge. Summarize the leadership styles of Chris Stewart, Steve Goody, and Grant Moulton and their respective contributions of fostering employee learning and intellectual growth, communicating ideas and sharing of knowledge across the organization, encouraging collaboration, and promoting goal setting. These leadership qualities create competitively advantageous synergy.


Your case study analysis should be substantive and fully address the assignment requirements. The completed analysis should be at least two pages in length, not counting the required title and reference pages.
