Abstract
This study explores the relationship between sleep quality and academic performance in college students. Poor sleeping habits can be associated with academic challenges, mental health issues, and various physiological issues. This research will focus on identifying sleeping behaviors and patterns most significantly contribute to academic success. Sleep behaviors and patterns like sleep duration, consistency, and disturbances may correlate with academic outcomes such as GPA, attention, and memory. This study will utilize a correlational research design to survey various students of different majors to assess their sleep quality and academic performance. Participants will complete the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) to measure sleep quality and habits; participants will also provide information on behalf of their GPA and academic standing and performance. The significance of this study is that it can provide empirical information on the relationship between sleeping habits and academic performance. By identifying the sleeping patterns and behaviors most associated with academic success, the findings of this research can be used to inform students and universities to encourage proper sleeping habits. Improving sleeping habits can also positively affect cognitive function and reduce stress, contributing to a student’s overall well-being and academic success.
