Evaluate whether literature review provides a strong foundation and identifies gaps in existing nursing knowledge.

Ethical Considerations

Discuss ethical approvals and participants protections, including informed consent, confidentiality, and adherence to ethical standards.

Evaluation of Methodology

For Qualitative Study

Examine the chosen qualitative approach and its appropriateness for the research question. Evaluate sample size, data collection methods, and analysis techniques (e.g. coding or thematic analysis).

For Qualitative Study

Asses the study design, clarity of variables, and appropriateness of sampling methods. Review data collection instrument for reliability and validity. Comment on statistical methods used for data analysis.

Results and Findings

Summarize how the results are presented (e.g. themes for qualitative or statistical outcomes for quantitative). Critique the clarity and thoroughness of the findings, including the use of tables, charts, or participant quotes).

Discussion and Implications

Evaluate how the discussion links the research purpose and existing literature. Assess the practical or theoretical implications for nursing practice, education, or policy. Highlight the relevance and strengths of the findings.

Strengths and Limitations

Identify the strengths of the study, such as robust methodology or meaningful findings. Discuss limitations acknowledged by the authors and any others you perceive (e.g. small sample size, potential bias).

Conclusion

Summarize your overall evaluation of the article. State the article’s contribution to nursing knowledge and applicability to practice. Provide recommendations for future research or areas for improvement in the study.

Reference List (separate page)

List any sources cited in your review, particularly if you reference other studies or frameworks. (Refer to APA Manual 7th edition or Purdue Owl for formatting).
