Directions – Argumentation Case Study

The goal of this exercise is to apply your argumentation skills to a real-life case and to your future career. First, you will read one of the articles below to extract and evaluate the key argument presented. You will then distill the author’s argument into premise-premise-conclusion form. Next, you will evaluate the strength of the argument and discuss what makes it strong or weak.

Finally, describe a scenario you have encountered or might expect to encounter in your career where these argumentation skills would be useful. Explain how you would apply your argumentation skills to the situation to achieve a better outcome. The focus is to connect what you’ve learned from dissecting the argument to a situation you may encounter in your career.
