Chapter 2 – Literature Review

Check when complete

Introduction: Include an opening paragraph that describes how and why you are conducting the literature review. The second paragraph includes the background and historical overview of the business problem and discusses the literature gap and the need for your study. Address how the gap aligns with the business field and how it led to the creation of your topic.

The third paragraph contains a description of how the literature was surveyed, including keywords and databases used, so that the reader can evaluate the thoroughness of the review. Finally, a transition to the next section (theoretical foundations) is included. This section should be approximately 3 paragraphs in length.

Theoretical foundations: The first half of the body of the lit review includes a discussion of the theoretical or conceptual framework, i.e., the theories/models you said frame your research in Chapter 1.

Review of Literature: The second half of the lit review includes a discussion of the themes found in current literature based on the phenomenon (qualitative) or variables (quantitative). Describe the results of studies that are related to your chosen methodology and research design and that are consistent with the scope of your study. You clearly explain how scholars used or are using your selected instrument. The literature you review aligns with and supports your research question(s).

Summary: The final three paragraphs synthesize all the information in the lit review and demonstrate the alignment between the problem statement RQs, methodology, and research design. A final paragraph serves as a transition into Chapter 3.

The literature review is at least 25 pages and contains all the required components for Chapter 2 in the template.
