A Note About Research
This essay is a research paper which means, at a minimum, you must read, cite and engage with
other views on the topic. Your paper should not be merely your unreflective thoughts on the
topic. There is no “magic number” to the number of sources that you should cite, but a starting
rule might be at least as many sources as pages (10 pages = 10 sources).
You should also be mindful of the quality of your sources. Websites are, typically, poor sources,
however popular they may be. You should read and engage with quality scholarship. You should
conduct a search through ATLA to find sources. The Moody library at HCU has a wealth of
online resources. There are guides to help you learn how to research, or you can always contact a
librarian for assistance.
