What I Hope to Accomplish in Life by Attending Plaza College
For the past sixteen years, I have had the honor of working as a Patient Care Technician at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. This experience has shaped my life in ways I never could have imagined. Every day, I witness the strength of patients fighting some of the toughest battles, and I have learned how powerful compassion, patience, and human connection can be. Being able to comfort, support, and care for others during such vulnerable moments has been incredibly fulfilling and has confirmed, year after year, that nursing is the path I am meant to follow. Attending Plaza College is the next step that will allow me to expand my purpose and accomplish the goals I have carried throughout my career.
My years at MSK have given me a solid foundation in patient care, but they have also shown me how much more I want to contribute as a registered nurse. By attending Plaza College, I hope to gain the advanced knowledge and clinical skills I need to take on a greater role in patient advocacy, treatment, and healing. Plaza College’s supportive environment, strong nursing curriculum, and hands-on training are exactly what I need to build on my experience and grow into the nurse I aspire to become.
I also hope to accomplish professional growth that will allow me to serve my patients in a deeper and more meaningful way. As a Patient Care Tech, I have learned how to comfort patients, anticipate their needs, and provide steady emotional support. As an RN, I will be able to combine those strengths with clinical decision-making, critical thinking, and leadership. My goal is to continue working in environments like MSK, where compassionate, patient-centered care is at the heart of everything. Becoming a nurse will allow me to do more than assist—I will be able to participate directly in healing, educating, and advocating for those who depend on me.
On a personal level, attending Plaza College represents the chance to accomplish a dream I have carried for many years. I want to show my family that perseverance leads to growth and that it is never too late to advance your education or elevate your purpose. Earning my nursing degree will give me long-term stability, open opportunities for specialization, and allow me to continue doing the work that fulfills me most: caring for people with dignity, respect, and kindness.
Ultimately, by attending Plaza College, I hope to combine my 16 years of experience with the education and training needed to become the nurse I have always envisioned. Nursing is not just a profession for me—it is a calling. This program will bring me one step closer to accomplishing my lifelong goal of helping, healing, and making a lasting difference in the lives of the patients I serve.
