Improving access and/or quality of dental insurance.
In the United States, many people don’t go to the dentist because they don’t have insurance or their plan doesn’t cover which is likely that that small problems like cavities, get worse and turn into infections, gum disease, or even emergency visits that cost much more. If many people had access to affordable dental insurance, they could go for regular check-ups and find out what the real problem is. Expanding dental benefits in Medicaid and Medicare, and telling private insurance to include affordable plans, would make dental care possible for people like seniors, low-income families, and rural communities.
It’s also necessary that dental insurance doesn’t just exist but covers useful services. Right now, many plans are limited and don’t pay for enough preventive care or major treatments. A stronger dental plan should cover check-ups, cleanings, fillings, and treatments for gum disease, because all of these can prevent worse health problems later. Better quality dental insurance would mean fewer painful emergencies, healthier smiles, and even lower healthcare costs overall since oral health is closely tied to things like heart disease and diabetes.
