Emotional Intelligence test, a score of 10 to 13 represents a person who has a good platform of emotional intelligence from which good leadership capabilities have a potential to be developed. After doing the test my total score was 13 a point shy of being regarded as a person of high emotional intelligence.

I noticed that my lowest score was from the tests that gauge one’s self management capabilities. Comparing to what most of my classmates score was in this sector, I noticed that my score was in a way dissimilar to what most of friends managed to score in the specific test. I therefore consulted them and also did a self reflection of things I can do to improve on the specific area.

My first area of concern was being able to relax when under pressure. This was a trait I had always lacked for as long as I can remember. When under pressure, my work often ends up being of poor quality; I lose all confidence and stop being resourceful. I had this one friend who is the last minute type, he often rushes to do what he is required to do when time is almost over we had always considered this a bad habit but in this situation, his behavior served as an advantage, he told me he always counts to ten slowly and then does the work without considering the amount of time he has in hand. He told me that he usually tells himself whether he worries or not, the time factor or the specific thing that might be exerting pressure on him will still exist so he totally assumes it exists. I adopted this and it really worked for me.

Second was being able to follow my words with actions. I discovered that I often make plans that I am not sure I can achieve. To manage this, I decided to avoid making any plan that I am not capable of going through with. To curb this, I will also develop a plan to help execute the action I plan to do.
