Ø Counselling is a profession involving a therapeutic relationship between a client and a counselor meant to help the client deal with their life issues Professionals selected Educational counselor: Dr. George Henry Ø Dr. George is an educational counselor in Michigan University. He has a master ’s degree in educational counseling.

Counselor: Francis Xavier Ø Xavier is a professional counselor licensed by the American Counselors Association. He has been practicing behavior therapy for over ten years as private practitioner. Xavier is also a behavioral lecturer at the Michigan University. • Topic chosen Ø The paper attempts to explore why learners have different learning capacity.

There are children who learn faster compared to others.

Ø Researchers have credited this to different reasons, being biological as well as environmental. It is still debatable whether it is environment exclusively or genetics that affects the learning ability. • Educational psychologist point of view Ø Education takes place through different forms for example memorization; through acquisition of facts, by conceptualizing the reality and being able to deduce sense of the world.

Ø The learning conditions are key to determinant of learning outcome. The environment and the model used to implement teaching are key role players to how well a learner learns (Educational Research, 2013). • The counselor ’s point of view Ø In counseling the belief is that an individual is different and unique in their own way.

The key condition to counseling is to offer the basic conditions proposed by carl Rogers which are; unconditional positive regard, empathy and genuineness (Berger, 2013).

Ø A counselor ’s view is that each person should be treated with their uniqueness and individuality. The difference in learning ability among learners should not be treated as a problem but as different. And valid in their own capacity. Comparison between the two professionals Ø The two professional agree that to some extent both genetics and environmental are key players in determining the learning abilities in learners.

Similarities between the two experts view Ø Both agree learning abilities differ Ø Both experts agree that some children need some special attention to help them learn better.

Differences • Counselors focus on person centered approach as the basis of therapy while educational psychologists pay attention to teaching models and the learning environment. • Conclusion • In the paper there the various differences behind the differences in learning disabilities are both biological and as a result of the environment.
