assessment 3 Literacy

Assessment 3 question (I have completed the lesson plans already I would be sending that once we agree to work with each other)

All I need you to do is

  • Rationale for lesson plans (approx. 800 words)

  • Critical reflection (approx. 500 words)

Over the duration of the unit you will gather and articulate your understanding of the learning from this unit within a folio. This folio will be a collection of your learning from this unit, demonstrating your professional knowledge and ability to plan and implement literacy across the curriculum.

Your final folio will comprise of the following artefacts:

  • Two lesson plans (600 words each, 1200 words in total), demonstrating your understanding of literacy within a curriculum area across two different primary levels. ( I have completed this lesson plans I would send them to you)

  • rationale for how the lesson plans demonstrate your understanding of literacy across the curriculum.

  • critical reflection of your own personal literacy, supported by evidence of your literacy development. (I have past assessments that my teacher said I was able to implement literacy with different learning areas).

Note: The critical reflection artefact of this folio represents the personal literacy hurdle task for this unit. As such, you must pass this component of the assignment to pass the unit as a whole. Further information about the requirements for a pass can be found in the standards statement for this task.

Two lesson plans

Select a subject/curriculum area other than Science (for example - Health and Physical Education, Mathematics, or Humanities and Social Science). Using the template provided, create whole class lesson plans demonstrating your knowledge of the course material that considers aspects of literacy across the curriculum. You will need to develop two lesson plans:

  1. A lesson plan for an upper primary context (Years 5-6) that will enable students to learn an aspect of a specific subject area and the elements of literacy within it (600 words).

  2. A lesson plan for a lower primary context (Foundation or Years 1-2) that will enable students to learn a specific subject area and the elements of literacy within it (600 words).

When approaching how you develop your lesson plans, consider:

  • the writing genre and use of the teaching and learning cycle

  • reading texts that could support the learning of content

  • use of multi-literacies and ICT applications

  • Assessment of the literacy components.

You should also refer to content and resources provided in the weekly learning materials and wider reading to support your approach. Any sources you use should be cited/referenced using APA referencing.

Rationale for lesson plans (approx. 800 words)

Write a rationale discussing how the lesson plans demonstrate your understanding of literacy across the curriculum. Your rationale should include a critical reflection (written in the first person, supported by literature) of how you plan to apply your knowledge of the learning, using the Australian Curriculum and associated state curriculum to enable all children to learn literacy within specific subject areas. This needs to explicitly refer to the planning included within the learning plans. Your rationale should also pay consideration to how multi-literacies and ICT/digital media play a part in children’s development of literacy.

Critical reflection (approx. 500 words)

Provide a critical reflection (written in first person, supported by literature) of your personal knowledge and understanding of literacy across the curriculum. You should reflect upon and discuss:

  • your knowledge of the literacy conventions and demands in relation to the three literacy dimensions

  • your strengths and areas to develop in relation to the unit material

  • your personal literacy competence outcomes, using support statements about your own literacy competence with reference to relevant evidence, for example: Evidence that shows reading of education or school based documented for example policies, curriculum documents, organisational procedures and the interpretation or use of these. Assessment outcomes that illustrate high quality writing, analysis and synthesis of authors work including referencing skills such as feedback from mentor teacher about quality of written lesson plans. Feedback from lecturer grade result on presentation skills, audience engagement. Other reading / writing / oral presentations / experiences that demonstrate the criteria.

You are encouraged to include your perspectives of the readings and links that are included within the unit and also your own sourced reading material, and include reference to any sources using APA. You may choose to include references with the relevant artefacts (e.g. within each lesson plan), or to place these in a seperate section under a References heading (either approach is acceptable). Note that references will not be included as part of the word count.
