Law Homework (4 questions)

Assignment Details:

Using the feedback you received from your instructor and colleagues over the last few weeks, you will now revise your rough draft into your final research paper. As you revise, feel free to continue to expand your paper by adding additional supporting evidence and analysis where you see a need. Have you incorporated the information related to technology, corrections, and any theories or policies related to the issue you are researching?

Your final draft must be no less than 4 pages, not including the reference page. It must be longer and more refined than your Unit 3 Individual Project. This paper must follow APA style format, and include in-text citations and a reference page. Be sure to proofread your final paper and run the spell and grammar checkers before submitting.

Instructor notes on previous submission:

PAGE REQUIREMENTS ARE NOT MET, YET---  MINIMUM OF 4 PAGES OF CONTENT.

You are on the right track here.  I would like for you to review these items. For each of these items, consult the associated literature and other sources and revamp the sections for your final. Although not required for this assignment, for your final, please make sure that you include the  measurement and analysis approach element. You will consult the outline expectations in IP 1.  Define the key points that you will research and explain how you will gather and analyze the data you find. Intend to incorporate information related to technology and crime statistics that apply to your issue.

Be sure that you construct a stronger and clearer thesis statement : http://writingcenter.unc.edu/handouts/thesis-statements/

Be sure that you include a proper problem statement: http://www.wikihow.com/Write-a-Problem-Statement

Be sure that you include a proper purpose statement:  https://www.owens.edu/writing/thesis.html

How to write a literature review:  http://writingcenter.unc.edu/handouts/literature-reviews/

Revamp your conclusion so that it reads stronger and is a better summary of the entire paper.

APA details -  examples include: use of punctuation ( periods and commas where they need to be),  use the initials of authors first names ( do not spell out authors first name), sentence case for titles of works, use of italics for journal article names, hanging indents, do not include Retrieval dates in the reference section.   At least one of these items are problematic in your reference section so review.

Do not forget that you need a minimum of 5 sources for your final.  You were not marked down for this, just FYI!

PAPER FORMAT

I am finding that there are still paper formatting problems. Pay attention to critical details concerning formatting of the running head, abstract, including subheadings ( and formatting them correctly) etc. Even though this is a draft, all of these elements need to be present and formatted properly.

Previous submission to instructor below. Please amend with information received from instructor notes/feedback and assignment details:

Modification of the crime statistics

Thesis Statement

Efficient modifications need to be realised in order to ensure that the expected results are attained when it comes to crime statistics. This has to be characterised non-deceiving information that is valid and will help achieve accountability and transparency (Hess., Orthmann, & Cho, 2017).

Introduction

Modification of crime statistics has been a major factor affecting the state of the nation, this has resulted to false reports being generated, which not only mislead the public but also enhance crimes. Additional crime categories are being identified and since the data does not want to be disclosed, it remains undercover thus encouraging offences that are more criminal. The findings, which are also part of the statistic, are compromised and due this, the relationship established is vague and cannot help in curbing the coming problems. Out of this it is clear that there ought to be some modifications in the crime statistics whereby this will be possible with the help of some of the strategies.

Hypothesis

With the use of inaccurate data, much has to be bared since it not only brings about problems in the law enforcement department but also to the country. This is because the country is not in a position to access its progress. More so has rendered the nation unprogressively since it is not able to compare itself with other countries. However, some of the assessments have to be changed or rather altered so as to ensure that the needs are prioritised. As a result, the outcomes of the modified statistics will be viewed when crime figures will change from being inaccurate to valid (Bachman, & Schutt, 2008).

Measurement and analysis approach

This is a wide area, which has been faced with various challenges that are not only ignored but also avoided since transparency is no longer the key. Out of this valid methods needs to be used as well as the permits engaged have to result to efficiency in the overall steps. From such methods, the administration has to accept the approach and have it evaluated. This is the only way to ensure that the outcome of the reports is not compromised and that the attempts to offer invalid information are shut down.

It is important to understand the primary goal and the need for the modification; this will not only help in identifying the measurable outcomes but also ensure that the analysis used is accurate. The modification will require training which will clearly define the roles and responsibilities of each individuals involved. Additionally it will be important to identify some of the strengths that will be associated with the approach since it is a new feature, which will be employed. The strengths will have to be evaluated based on the impact that will experienced by the auditing officials this is the only way to guarantee change in crime statistics.

If the change is acceptable and efficient and follows all the aspects of ethics then it will be regarded as a good form of modification. However, the background of modifications has to be based on strong ethical standards such that if any individual goes against the standards then consequences follow. The method of entry used will have to be one so as to ensure that justifiable measures do not arise. Any breach of contract will result to complications and hence the need to maintain uniformity.

Ethical standards

The modifications need to ensure that the code of ethics is not only documented but also practiced. This will ensure that integrity is the base of the modifications as well as ensure that the approaches are effective. The officials involved in the modifications will have to take an oath, which will tie them to assuring the public that the figures delivered will no longer be dark but instead genuine and acceptable. The aspect of confidentiality has to be maintained since this is one of the requirements when it comes to ethics. No cheating has to be involved since it will not have any impact with the modification of the crime statistics. The aim is to ensure that the figures change, transparency is achieved and most of it all each individual is responsible. The manner through which this can be done is by ensuring that ethics is maintained and followed.

With no defined form of ethics, modification will be impossible since the same errors that were part of the previous mistakes will be carried to the new models. A good example would be victimization, which has been on the system for decades, through such mistakes it is difficult to enhance change or even collect aggregate data. The auditing bodies need to be enhanced ethically and thus the data should not be mishandled since any form of data loss is rendered unacceptable.

To sum up, modifications of crime statistics is an area that I am interested in since it requires much attention and patience. This will be requirements since over the past decades the area has been based on some of the unacceptable acts and as a result invalid information has been available. To some extent, this has made the country not to be in a position to compare its progress with other countries and hence competition has not been strong. However with several modifications, there will be a room for improvement as well as possible solutions to deal with shifting attitudes of societal changes. As a result there will be need to embrace change since this is the only way to set the information right.
