Formulating Leadership Part I

Introduction

To ensure that the organization encourages the Millennials in various leadership positions, there needs to be a guideline that can be followed. That includes ways that the organization can efficiently use such as the following process:

Providing Mentorship for the Millennials

In this part, the organization can use to its advantage the highly generous nature of the Millennials when there is some mentorship given to them. That can easily be done by pairing them with those leaders in the organization who have the values and principles of the company at heart. That further allows the Millennials to be able to coach others as they are also taught at the same time (Marcinkus, 2012).

Use social networking to get desired input

This can be brought to use especially when the organization decides to include a social network internally where they can easily access their mentors. That will, in additional, bring about the feeling of satisfaction since there is time to interact with others online. That also increases the ability of the Millennials to solve some problems quickly.

Appreciation for the Soft skills developed

If the Millennials are to take part in the organization's performance entirely, then there is the need to have them see the big picture. That will help them engage in the overall performance of the organization. Subsequently, there is the need to have the expectations the organization has for them noted explicitly (Marcinkus, 2012). That will further boost their soft skills such as working with colleagues, giving or receiving feedback or even seeking supervisory assistance when with concern.

Presenting to Senior Management

Presenting the process of molding Millennials into the future leaders of an organization to senior management must be done so carefully. The stigma that Millennials carry can be absolutely intimidating when considering them for leadership positions. When presenting this plan to senior management, the benefits the organization would receive must be made clear. The best way to present this information would be through a slide show presentation. One Millennial leader and their senior mentor will give a presentation to senior management informing them of the benefits of integrating Millennials into their leadership team and the ease of doing so.

During this presentation, they will show how the Millennials’ use of technology and social networking can quickly grow the competitive advantage of the organization. Additionally, they will partner with their senior mentor to demonstrate the receptiveness of both sides in learning “old and new tricks.” Showing the compatibility and willingness to work with and learn from one another is vital. This presentation will highlight the value of fostering mutual support and understanding (Stiller Rikleen, 2011). To foster this, management should provide training to teach the importance of building multigenerational teams and enhancing soft-skills (Stiller Rikleen, 2011). The most important part of this integration is to show the importance of teamwork and how each person (senior and millennial both) play a vital role in the process.
