SUBJECT: Advocating for the Launch of a New Product.

In the last couple of years, our company has been a national and global leader in the invention and assembly of laptops and smartphones. However, our brand is currently straining to stay in the world ranks. This is because we face strong competition from companies such as HP, Apple, Dell, Asus, Microsoft, Lenovo, etc. It is, therefore, a high time the company came up with a new product that will place the company back on the technology map. A team of dedicated young associates within the company who have done their research has come up with the perfect idea. The Uranus 300 Lite. It is by far the best laptop this company has made.

Uranus was the first company laptop made in the year 2009. From it the company made huge amounts of profits landing it in the top spot for the best upcoming innovation 2009. It was also our CEO’s first idea. Therefore, we saw it fit to brand our new laptop the name ‘Uranus’ attributing our success to that name. Furthermore, our customers and clients fell in love with the brand name and we, therefore, saw it fit to have the current generation enjoy the same brand name.

The team went out of their way to go to the ground and collect raw data from laptop users who gave us some of the ideas we used to come up with the ideal laptop. Our questions mainly composed of; the kind of laptop one goes out to buy depending on their preferences. The data was collected from various districts where we have branches and these were the findings:

1. Most laptop users are scholars who are either still learning or just out of the learning institutions and therefore when designing the perfect laptop, we would consider them.

2. Another group of people we targeted was the working group. These are people who are in the job market and require laptops to conduct day to day business. These number of people was significantly large and we thought it fit to consider them too.

3. From these groups, we were able to gather that these laptops were used for learning, research, data storage, entertainment, communication and other preferential services.

From the above information, the group was ready to start the idea process. We brought together a group of developers, computer hardware and software engineers and consultants from OEM China. However, our internal team headed the whole idea. Finally, after long deliberations, we finally had the proposed Uranus prototype design. We plan to make an all-round laptop for business, learning, gaming and networking.

The following are detailed specifications Uranus 3000 Lite would have:

1. 3.0 GHz quad-core AMD accelerated processing unit (APU). The processor would include integrated graphics from the Intel Core series.

2. State of the art display with gross color shift when viewed at any angle other than square-on.

3. The serviceable low-profile tiled keyboard of either UK or US background. This is because most of our branches are within these two regions.

4. Relatively cooperative trackpad blended into a smooth textured top deck with nice white stripes finish.

5. The case color would be silver, plastic and smooth. The logo position still remains with a few changes to ensure it is durable.

6. Thin and light with an internal long-life battery which makes it portable and easy to handle for all our customers.

7. The cooling system would also include new developments that enable the laptop to self-cool when in use.

8. Ram would be 4GB 1600MHz and internal hard disk of 500GB to 1TB. This is dependent on the purpose and our customer's preferences.

9. Three USB ports with one of them USB 3.0.

10. Displays can be connected via VGA or HDMI ports.

11. 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0, plus a wired network port. This is an improvement from before and we can assure our customer's speeds like no other.

12. State of the art stereo speakers, a single mic, and 3.5mm headset jack.

13. 1150 grams. First of its kind.

14. 15.6” screen size fully touch-screen and removable. However, the removable feature is still under discussion.

Unlike in the recent past where our laptops were our machines were built to accommodate any operating system (OS), we have partnered with windows to ensure that the laptops are equipped with the latest Windows 10 Operating System. All the hardware requirements to ensure that the Operating System is fully compatible with the laptop are in place.

The cost of the laptop is yet to be decided but we hope to make as cheap and convenient as possible for our customers. We can proudly say that it will be affordable to any average citizen; at least that is what we are targeting. The laptops are expected to hit the European and American markets before proceeding other continents. We hope to use our American and European Market branches to advertise the brand as well as going online.

The group suggested a new project idea never heard of before. We hope to give our customers a chance to have their owned personal laptops specifically designed for them. this will definitely cost them much more than at the shops and displays but it’s a good way to ensure that our customers are satisfied with what they buy. The specifications range from the laptop’s color to its hardware.

The Uranus 3000 Lite is expected to overtake all other existing laptop brands in the market having close to the same specifications. Our team has gone out and asked users of what they would like in a laptop and we are proud to say that we have met all the expectations including cost and durability. Most of our customers were concerned about the weight and size of the laptop something we have taken the time to address while still maintaining our laptop’s quality. By far, this is the best laptop the company has made.

In a scenario where the laptop does not perform as expected in the markets targeted, it would be advisable to change our advertising techniques. It is important to recognize the fact that many new brands are in the market and advertising would be the most effective way to reach our customers and clients.

There are various digital channels we can use for marketing our laptops. The most common method is by use of website popups that would redirect our clients to our website where they would have a chance to view the Uranus 3000 and its specifications. Another way is by redirecting sites to our website. Social media is an avenue we hope to maximize in promoting our product. Here we hope to reach as many people as possible.

We hope to also effectively use cross-cultural teams to provide a source of experience and innovative thinking. The core purpose of this step is to ensure that we have positive competition with other companies. We also have to put in mind that culture differences can interfere with the successful completion of today’s multicultural business community ("CROSS CULTURAL DIFFERENCES AND THEIR IMPLICATIONS FOR", 2017).

This is a huge step for the company and we can guarantee that it will be a success. We have researched and consulted to ensure that we have produced and built best and get the best from it. Therefore, we would humbly request the management to support this project as we take the next leap into the future.
