Description of Assignment:

In order to achieve this unit you need to carefully read the assessment criteria for this unit on the following page.

Task 1: Create a research question to help you investigate one aspect of business communication- see tasks 1 and 2 of the business communication assignment for guidance. (use your question as a title for your work fo AC1.1, 1.2 and 2.2)

  • Use a minimum of 3 sources, from the following: books, textbooks, newspapers, journals, e books, websites, DVD material.

  • Demonstrate how you employed various reading techniques such as skimming, scanning, reviewing and summarising when using these sources

Create a mind-map for each of the three sources used, and stick to the focus of the question you posed.

The documents should have a title, start in the centre with the heading ‘workplace communication barriers’, show linked ideas and give correct references and citations for each source used at the bottom of each page.

Task 2: Look at the texts given to you by your tutor and examine implied meaning in them ( examples given below)

  • Assumption, suggestion, irony, sarcasm, allusion, metaphor, inference, symbolic representation or statistical representation.

And

  • Explain the purpose and effect of implied meaning in a variety of written texts

To achieve AC3.1 you need to read the given extract and explain the purpose of that implied meaning in the text showing why it was used and what effect it had on the overall text.
