Cody Article Reaction Paper

This paper is a reaction to the Cody article in the online classroom. You are to submit your paper to your writing partners prior to submitting it to the professor for editing. The paper is to be written in good essay format with correct sentence structure, grammar, and punctuation. See section in online classroom on how to write a reaction paper.

  • Essay format includes at least three sections: introduction, discussion, and conclusion.

  • This is to be no more than three pages in length

  • Peer editors are to complete and submit the peer grading sheet attached on next page

  • Each paper should have 2 peer grading sheets attached at end of paper (only for draft 3—final draft does not need peer editing).

  • The Writing Center receipt must be submitted with your revised paper.

  • The format for the Cody paper submission will be as follows:

    • Cody Paper (title page with name, etc.)

    • Grading sheet

    • Writing Center receipt

    • 2 peer evaluation sheets

You are the editor, responsible for reviewing and editing manuscripts for a student publication on nursing theories that will be published next year by a major publishing house. Your job (grade) is dependent on the quality of the writing that you send “up the line” as edited. This includes checking the content, writing style, grammar, form, etcetera. Using the areas listed below, answer the questions and discuss your opinion of the writing and what editing suggestions you made and why. As an editor, you are expected to lead by example; therefore, your writing on this sheet should be of the highest quality.

Content:

Address the quality of writing and development of ideas. Were they communicated clearly? Was the paper written in a way that made sense and increased your understanding of the subject? Did the writer include all of the required elements? Comment on these and other elements of the person’s writing in 1-2 paragraphs.

Style:

Was this written at a level appropriate for the publication (i.e., college level)? Were the sentences well developed and formed? Was the vocabulary understandable and appropriate, jargon-free, and without redundancy?

Grammar:

Address basic writing conventions. Were they followed? What did you need to correct?

Format:

Did the writer follow APA Style?
