  • What improves organization development – Data management, human resources, putting process in place, technology, analyzing strategies, aligning organizations across the board, encourage employees and make them feel important in the organization.

  • Improving quality of product for consumers.

  • Error in customer service could fall on the organization and not the employee that committed the error. So CEOs should be ready to face the organization’s negative criticism.

  • For CEOs not to fail, they have to stay connected and relate with others, including employees.

  • Where is the organization presently in terms of values, mission, vision, culture, profits, revenues, etc., and where are going. Analyzing the company present state and value in market place.

  • Organization should communicate to improve strategic alignment

  • Talent shortage – deal with talent shortage through technology, training, education, continue education, in-service training.

  • The elements of strategic management are mission, vision, goals, values, and strategies

  • When mission is more tangible, they are easier to achieve

  • In the five forces that shape strategic management, my biggest threat is the competitive rivalry. It is also the most important tool to stay competitive. Avoid this by applying your strategies differently and use your tools creatively. Make yourself valuable by working hard. Building the team around you to do the intangibles you cannot do.

  • Education is a way of entry into the market but not the end of the entry tool. Some of people have no education but they have experience and work in the front line.

  • Know your audience and draw your experience.

  • Effective way to manage performance is have private discussion with your partner and tell them why they are effective, tell them why/how they will be more effective. Give feedback a full feedback, not just praise or criticism.
