Abstract

Harrison Kirby owns a golf course and also has a retail shop. Mr. Kirby is looking to expand his business by going online. Converting any business over to e-business has to be done in detail. One topic of interest for Mr. Kirby is Intelligence systems. Customers gaining product information without utilizing competitors websites for the information is a concern for Mr. Kirby. With this new e-business, he wants to keep all product information in-house. This report will show Mr. Kirby what the competitor’s websites offer and comparing them will give him a clearer picture of what he needs to incorporate in his website in order to make that happen.

Introduction

Mr. Kirby, you requested information on major golf online retailers. In today’s world it is good to research competition and the importance of knowing what other sites are using for their “intelligence” and I think after reviewing what I have found it will become clear on the direction you should go. The websites have similarities, as far as the layout, certain services offered, consumer reviews and how consumers gain access to addition product information. As you will see some are very creative with the intelligence system, with and without and some didn’t seem to want to drive customer reviews. Below you will see the details of what is available to consumers on these websites and hopefully this is help to you and your developers.

Analysis

Consumers want to feel as though they can trust your company and its products. All of the sites offered detailed information on products however only certain sites had qualities that you are looking for. Worldwide Golf Shops, as a stamp for BP (BazaarVoice). They make it well know that their reviews can be trusted. Golf Galaxy, offers many online service including booking tee time; they also have links to view all products by a manufacture. The Golf Warehouse, has live chat and consumers can ask questions and get immediate response. They also have links to blogs and video to show golfers techniques. PGA Tour Super Store, offers a lot of product information in different ways and they offer low price guarantee. I found that this online store uses a third party system for their reviews; PowerReviews. The link is within the reviews. This site is very informational for products and services. Rock Bottom Golf, quickly catches the consumers; promotions and sales fill the entire page. Please see table below to review the online stores in further detail.

Conclusion

As state above, all site have its qualities, however after reviewing everything I think if use utilize a third party. Part of third parties solutions is to promote sales and attract local customers. PGA Tour Super Store is a good example of what a third party can do. Out of all of the online stores we have reviewed, PGA is most in-line with your company needs. All of the product information is detailed; add links for related product information. Can hold as many or as less product as need be, offer services. Even though PGA doesn’t offer tee time, if you platform for your website is Cloud Computing than it is easy to customize and add tee time in as a service. I believe PGA layout ideas along with third party, PowerReview customize help, your online store will be in the right direction.
