Case Study

Write a summary of the case study that is about one page.

The case study that i am going to use to compete this paper is, “A Sweet Breakfast Memory That Connects With the Wrong Market, “by Grossmann, (2014). This case illustrates the situation of a company referred to as Cow Wow Cereal Milk which makes milk in the breakfast cereal flavors. This company was founded by Christopher Pouy who is a former advisor who seeks to capitalize on the love that he had for flavor milk that he had during his childhood. He has therefore designed a package with a child friendly cow and has given names such as Fruit Trudy and Chocolate Chip Cathy on his products as a way of branding which is meant for the children between 5 and 12 years old.

From the case study, the Cow wow cereal milk company has a challenge of targeting the right customers. This came as a result of the unexpected media publicity and the promising sales on the college campus which led Mr. Pouy to start second guessing his audience even though it was clear to him that targeting the college students and the high schoolers would force him to rethink his whole brand afresh. Although there was great publicity, Mr. Pouy realized that there was a problem between the age of the viewers and the readers because they were not the people that he was selling his products too. His products started being displayed in the supermarket shelves but his milk was facing competition from the competitors since it was about 20 cents higher than them because he did not have resources to offer the coupons as well as the discounts. As a result of this, his sales did not meet the expectation. However, after he tried to venture in the high schools, he realized that his product was doing well there and he was thus left with the task of weighing the option of whether to venture in the millennial market, stay in the course which he started which is the children’s market or to adopt the hybrid strategy which is the incorporation of both the childhood and the millennial which would be twice the cost of the others individually.

Research and describe at least 3 technologies that could be used to support or enhance the business in the case study

One of the technologies that can be used to support or enhance the business in the case study is the differentiation aimed at changing the basis of the competition in the industry. In the market, businesses tends to enjoy a degree of complacency when they no longer strive to differentiate themselves from their competitors. In this, business can ensure it streamlines, optimise and automate its internal processes which can greatly aid in the reductionof the delays, human errors, complexity oif the processes and also the red tapes. Differentiation will also assist this business to increase its operational efficiences which will reduce the cost of operations and impove the bottom line. This will also greatly assist in the implementation of new measures which can add value to the customers and thereby improve their experience with the organization which will contribute to an increase in the level of profitability of the business (Smith, & Kidd, 2000).

The other technology that can be used to support or enhance the business in the case study is social media platforms such as as Facebook, instagram and twitter as a way of marketing and getting the customers feedback. This company can make use of the social media technology to freed from the print ads in its effort to outreach the new as well as the existing customers. The marketing on the internet usually range from the advertising on the search engines, simple infoirmational websites and tgo the online oroduct sales. Through the use of this marketing technology, the business can be in a position to attract new customers from various regions globally and also respond to their customers feedback (Bajgorić, 2009). The use of this kind of technology is also cheaper than the print ads and it will theefore aid in the reduction of the company’s operational costs and hence a reduction in the prices of the milk in the supermarkets so that the company can be in a position to compete effectively with the other companies operating inthe indudtry of the flavoured milk.

The third technology that can be employed to support or enhance the business in the case study is in the customer service. The use of the technology in the customer service greatly aids in the bringing of the businesses closer to their customers. The business in the case study can make use of thhe email technology to answer questions raised by the customers and offer the online chat with the customers tgo assist the ones visiting the website (Pour, 2001). In addition to this, thhe business should also ensure taht it equips thhe call centre with the latest equipment to ensure the efficiency of the agents in charge of thhe customer service. This will greatly aid in ensurfing that the customers are able to communicate with the company effectively. The business should strive to ensure that it has given their customers a variety of ways that they can make use of in contacting them. Although the technology is very imperative, the business should focus on training its employees in effective techniques of delivering customer services and the right ways of using technology.
