HUMAN RESOURCE STRATEGY AND STAKEHOLDER ANALYSIS

Johnson and Johnson is one of the largest healthcare empires in the world. The company knows how vital it is to stay actively involved with their stakeholders. Johnson and Johnson's constant involvement with their community, shareholders, the environment and issues regarding the government is the reason why partnerships function so well. The organization chooses their shareholders based on a few factors. Working together with organizations to improve overall health conditions in the community, the passion to better the environment, and teaching one another new things all have a positive impact on Johnson and Johnson.

The Enterprise has several stakeholder groups that are shareholders including patients and consumers who use their products and services. Their method of engagement as shareholders, includes product packaging, labeling, customer service call centers, online sites, advertisements and clinical trials. Healthcare professionals and hospitals are also shareholders of Johnson and Johnson. They are partnered up through representative liaisons who assist with continued education, clinical researchers, education classes as well assistance for caregivers.

Their community is another stakeholder group that interacts with businesses, schools, civic organizations and open houses. Every employee that works for Johnson and Johnson is a shareholder. Their methods of engagements are newsletters, company meetings, internal communications, Credo survey and health policy excellence just to name a few. Customer stakeholders are involved in the strategic planning process through sales and distribution, supply and demand for products, packaging, pricing and many other procedures.

Johnson and Johnson has a comprehensive recruitment and training program. The company offers a career page that everyone is encouraged to review before applying for a position. These sites will allow potential employees to educate themselves about career opportunities and what they entail. The career page also features much interview prep information. Their vision will help when it comes to highlighting your skills and experiences needed for the position of which you are interviewing for.

The next step would be to apply for the post that interests you most. That is done on the website by clicking on the "Apply Now" link. Johnson and Johnson have a Talent Acquisition Team of managers that interview every potentially qualified candidate. Responses are sent via email, and potential employees have a certain amount of time to accept the phone interview. If selected, the candidate will be asked to go for a face to face meeting. If the candidate is hired, an offer letter is sent.

All employees must be trained in compliance with communications, training, and implementation of the company policy on business conduct is reviewed. New hires with be paired with senior employees to learn all aspects. Continued education is available for all employees which allow them to grow with the company. Johnson and Johnson's recruitment process shows diversity by breaking up the hiring process in three parts. Recruitment, interviewing and hiring allows them to break the bias and barriers for applicants who may seem diverse during the hiring process. Training is provided to all employees that are involved in the recruitment process which allows more open-mindedness between individual's bias or barriers. The goal is to have all employees feel welcome and comfortable. Getting those differences to disappear is the primary aim.

Recruiting resources are not limited to just one source. Community events, colleges, radio stations, and job fairs are all great ways to find new potential employees. Recruiters work in diverse areas to learn diversity so they can learn how to interview individuals from a diverse group, (Krumrie, 2014). "The best approach to make an organization's employee selection process more inclusive and welcoming for diverse applicants is to learn directly from the experts-diverse applicants themselves," (Krumrie, 2014).

The company offers a variety of benefits to their employees including severance payments as well as employee assistance programs. Staff at the organization is recognized for the hard work and dedication they are contributing to the company. However, there are a few comments from current and former employees stating that Johnson and Johnson's incentive and praise program could be better. One person mentioned that mistakes or errors are not easily forgotten, lack of advancement, repeat awards are only given to model employees. If it doesn't benefit the executives, extra effort or big accomplishments are not recognized; (2014, Manager at Johnson and Johnson). Another employee stated that the company could do a better job with the employee retention and recognition for high performers. (Financial Analyst- Johnson and Johnson). The company should consider revamping the employee awards and recognition policy. Happy employees equal better performers and incentives go a long way, even if they are minimal. Most employees just want a little acknowledgment and recognition when they go above and beyond.
