Trump on Healthcare Reforms.

As it were before the incumbent president of the United States of America took over the reign of the highest public office of the land, Obamacare was the in thing during President Obama’s administration on matters health. However, the reigning president Donald Trump has had nothing but distaste for the Obamacare plan terming it as a total disaster that is vehemently expensively and one that does not promote any sort of competition. Donald Trump before the election had vowed that during his first day in office, he would urge the Congress to send him a bill to repeal and replace Obamacare. Be that as it may, he has sustained only two aspects of the Obamacare that he views as still fundamental to his Healthcare plan. First is the fact that three million young adults yet to achieve the age of twenty-six can still get medically covered under their parent’s medical insurance plans. Second, individuals with preexisting conditions and adverse health issues can still get access to insurance as and when the need arises. Several statements made in the attached speech are doable.

In his statements in the attached video, President Donald Trump speaks with utmost certainty of his perfect plan to abolish or remove the artificial lines. In this context, Trump means that there is no competition between insurance companies in the various states. For instance, an insurance company in California is a monopoly in that state and so are all the insurance companies in the other states (News, 2017, January 06). As such, there is no interstate competition between the insurance companies due to the artificial lines that exist between the states. Donald Trump defends the fact that with the elimination of the artificial interstate lines, then there will be increased competition between the existing insurance companies fostering a very suitably competitive environment. The results of this removal of lines which will promote competition will allow prices for insurance to go down such that almost every citizen in the United States of America can afford healthcare. This statement is utterly doable as it has an economic background that has worked tremendously well in the past in the business world. With more competition, the lower the price of a commodity and therefore the more affordable the product and or service is.

Secondly, Donald Trump is passionate about introducing importation of drugs from other countries. Being the successful businessman that he has proven to be over time, he is bringing in his business mind into the healthcare sector. In the event that importation of drugs from other countries is allowed, there is increased competition between the local companies within the United States of America and the supplier firms out of the country. The largest concern is, however, the issue of quality of the drugs. However, the government will find a way to come up with a system to verify the validity and quality of the imported drugs. Once the competition is provoked, more often than not, the prices of the drugs will substantially reduce. The ultimate result is that every American with a lesser pay will also be able to afford drugs necessary to keep up with a healthy body (Bump, 2017, March 08).

Thirdly, with the implementation of the immigration policy that will see the construction of the wall, there are very high chances that there will a significantly reduced number of illegal immigrants flooding the hospitals. According to a recent study within the United States, the country spends 11billion US dollars in keeping up with the costs incurred in offering treatment to illegal immigrants. Additionally, with the implementation of the immigration policy that will see most of the illegal immigrants kicked out of the country permanently, there will be reduced illicit drug importation. Also, there will be a great reduction in the budget used to cater for illegal immigrants which could be directed towards healthcare for legit United States citizens (Amadeo, 2017).
