Selection of Outstanding Posters | Posters that are deemed to be of high quality will be selected by LIC’s to be displayed within the ACU campus communities electronically, during international nurses’ week (May 8-15). |
Method
Please prepare a maximum of 7 PowerPoint slides.
This includes one slide as the title slide that includes the title of the electronic poster and the authors’ names and affiliations.
One slide with collective group references
All e-Posters must be no longer than 4 minutes in total elapsed duration (including Title Slide) including transitions between slides.
Don’t cram too much information into the electronic poster. Focus on a few major points – aim to convey to the audience 3 – 5 major points only, with all other text or images supporting these points.
Consider using not only words but images and colour to enhance the appeal to the audience.
Use a clear, readable font style that is at least 14- point in size so that the text is easily readable from 2 metres away.
Avoid abbreviations, acronyms and jargon
Please ensure graphical and visual clarity when presenting numerical or statistical data
Please include transitions and animation to assist the impact and clarity of your slides and to allow automatic movement through your slide sequence.
Ask yourself: Is the message clear? Do the important points stand out? Is there a balance between words and illustrations?
The movement (pathway) of the eye through the poster ought to be natural (down columns and along rows). Size attracts attention. Arrows, hands, numbers and symbols can clarify sequence.
Do not overload the poster. More material may mean less communication. Ask yourself: What do I want the viewer to remember?
The poster should be understandable without oral explanation.
Class Presentation
During Week 6, each group will be required to present their e-poster to the class. This presentation must take no longer than 15 minutes in total. This would include 10 minutes to present and 5 minutes for question time.
Top E-posters
Students whose e-poster receives a high grade will be considered for public display during International Nurses Week (8-12 May 2017).
Lecturers reserve the right to adjust timings within and between slides in order to improve overall presentation if the e-poster is selected for public display. No changes to content or format of slide presentation will be made unless in consultation with the e-poster author
Topics
These will be assigned in Week 2 in tutorial class by your lecturer. You will be allocated to a group of no more than 5 students.
