Introduction

“Bet you can't have just one.” This line is the challenge written on the backs of Frito Lay chips daring people to try to only eat one chip. The genius is that people are wired to do the opposite of what they are told. So, more often than not, the whole bag is eaten. Ingenious marketing, intense research, and sound business practices has cemented Frito Lay as the top snack food company in the US and indeed the world. Having merged with Pepsi-Cola in 1961 Frito Lay has operated as a wholly owned subsidiary of PepsiCo. This merger allowed the cola and snack industries to spread from the US to the entire world. P.
