Database Technologies and Data Structure

How is information collected, organized, scrubbed, coded, and entered into the PHIS?

It’s important to have data protected and also have the security up to date and strong enough to resist crimes. Most of the pathology laboratories need to have secure stores be it manual or online storage as patient data is legally required to protected at all times. Being that a lot of information exchange happen online in the recent times due to advancement of technology, there is continued need to have information protected as tasking and involving as it might be. This means that everything needs to be reviewed from passwords, biometric devices, data encryption, internet security, virtual private networks, firewalls, antiviral software and emergency situation handling (Andrew, 2016).

The health insurance portability and accountability act (HIPAA) have the responsibility of governing privacy and protecting medical information as well as health records. They have the mandate to ensure administrative mandate administrative, physical, technical safeguards so as to ensure confidentiality, integrity and security of the protected health information systems. It’s vital for organizations which use computers to have their data protected from unauthorized access physical destruction and unplanned events like hacking, malware issues and security breach. Other causes can be system crash, downtime and even firm ware version consistencies. The health information system is responsible for collection of data. It also has the responsibility of managing the data and working on errors so as to correct the errors and improve on patients’ information safety. Electronic patient record is responsible for collection and updating of patient information (Andrew, 2016).

On the other hand occurrence reports are in charge of collecting all error information regardless of the fact that they may affect the patients’ health or not. The clintrac system is a software made to be in charge pf managing the risks from clinical to financial data. After errors are collected, they are directed to risk management department where the data is analyzed by cross referencing it with occurrence reports as well as appropriate healthcare providers. A house report is made where all errors are reported. From there, data is cleansed which is a process where data is amended or incorrect data, incomplete data, improperly formatted or duplicated data is removed. This assists the database administrator in keeping correct patient information (Andrew, 2016).

Asthma Database Analyses: Describe the structural organization of your database.

Database is mostly organized in such a manner that characters are entered into fields and then stored into records which a compiled into files and all make up a database. They can assume a database model. The best version of is the hierarchical model that the patient information is collected with a number for record purposes. The student ID represents the name of the student and the date of birth and serial number makes it easy to search for student info. The student number represents the highest part of the hierarchy whereas the serial number represents the child part of the hierarchy system. The indexed sequential organization is used to store the files for easy access using the serial number that acts as the reference number (Rouse, data scrubbing (data cleansing), 2016).

What is the survey population description?

The census bureau of labor statistics conducts a monthly statistical survey on a monthly basis from ages 15years and above to ensure an inferential assumption of a countries population as a whole. This makes it easier to determine factors on issues like health scares and epidemics, unemployment, earnings and others such as age, sex and health epidemics . Describe Pre-intervention. This is usually the framework set up to assess the effectiveness of intervention and also to triage students into intervention tiers. There is usually fluency between pre-intervention and also post intervention assessments based on standard scores and thus through the results some sort of relationships can be established into treatment measures and methodologies. What is a database record? This can be described as a response base for centralized information stored on other about objects or people. It’s usually managed by business, health or other entities that store information about people, clients, customers, subscribers or patients. Hospitals and clinics are some of the biggest users of such a system as t needs to manage patient information. It’s usually an important system as it helps in tailoring services to specific individuals, provide support and services and personalize bonds and relationships (Rouse, Definition, 2006).

The Asthma survey database has 12 records which are school numbers, student ID, Gender, Zip, Date of Birth Asthma, RAD, Bronchitis, Wheezing, Mediciator, Wmonth and missed days. What is a database field data definition? A field can be seen as an area or a known location that contains units of data such a record, message header, instructions that have a purpose and even a specific set size. The records set are specific to a certain entity as they hold relevant information from identification number, address and other information. What is an example of a database in the provided worksheet is the Asthma Study Data. The purpose of the survey done is to determine how many of the students have the asthma illnesses and the associated symptoms which are inclusive of Reactive way disease, bronchitis, wheezing, medication, WMonth and miss days (Rouse, Definition, 2006).

The survey has key components that are inclusive of the gender, date of birth and the associative contributive illnesses that further aggravate the condition. Similarly the length of missed days shows how much the disease affects the person. All this information is quite important as it helps understand which gender is more affected by the illness and to what extent the illness affects the students and this can be used in providing proper care and also serving as future reference for control of the illness (Rouse, Definition, 2006).
